Ringspun boatneck painter teeThe Painter tee is semi-sheer, enough so that I would only wear it as a layering piece. The darker colors, black and grey, may be a different story. I sized up to a small to prevent clinginess is the chest. Going up a size also helps the sheerness. The larger size did come with a wider neck opening, to the point of showing bra straps. The tee is made in a comfortable lightweight fabric with a nice drape. I wouldn’t mind multiples of this top in the brighter colors for Fall. The Peacock and Honey Glaze are particularly lovely. However, since it would be layered and only peeking out from underneath another top, I would not invest much money in each piece. Also preventing me from paying much, is the fact that it is not unique top and easily replaceable.

Keep up this blog. This is exactly what I’m looking for on blogs when I read other JCrew blog sites. I am a long time reader of JCrewaficionada but only started posting recently. You do an excellent job detailing the clothing. I look forward to checking your blog too!
Thanks so much! And thank you for the mention on Aficionada
Oh–shoot–I meant this boatneck tee-not the one just posted as I requested deep purple color. Did you happen to see this in your B&M in the deep purple color? I am seeking an xsmall–anyone?? LOVE your blog!
By the way–I >LOVE these for layering and they are so comfy! I know they are prob out there cheaper but I got a CSR that was coo coo and gave me 40% off all of them!
Great deal! They are comfy. My store was pretty cleaned out. I think they only had mediums and larges left
Thanks Shannon!!
I wore this tee for the first time today (getting chilly outside!) and I absolutely LOVE it. Mine is the darker gray color and it’s not see-through at all! It kills me that it was still twenty-something dollars even after being on sale and an extra 20% off, but I love it and I think I will get 1 more for the season – probably the bright blue. Today, I paired it with a racer-back tank underneath (so a contrasting color would show at the neckline) and a vintage cord skirt. Love it!
Sounds really cute Lindsey!
I hope they remake this tee in a fabric just a tiny bit thicker for fall and winter!
I got this in the hunter green color. I agree with sizing up one. Not sure it’s worth $40, but I got it for 20% off the sale price. Definitely good on sale.
OOH, yeah Shannon — this material, only thicker, for winter would be awesome!! I’ll think I’ll hold off buying another until I see what comes out for winter
Good call!
I received this yesterday in Deep Persimmon. I think the fabric feels good against my skin but other than the softness I can’t find a reason to keep it. It’s too see through and I just don’t need another layering tee. I would end up using this as a sleep shirt! I agree with Shannon, it’s not unique, and I think it is way overpriced.
