I wish I had a review of J.Crew’s vintage flower pins but like most of you, I didn’t have a chance to see the pins before they sold out. No need to despair though. The company who supplied the to silk flowers to J.Crew sells direct to the public via their website. Or if you’re feeling a little crafty, why not try your hand at making a floral accessory yourself.

Thanks for posting this! I did find some pretty floral pins where I live in the UK for 3.50 pounds or approx. $7 and I bought three but I want to make my own with some larger flowers!

Ditto what Julie said, this is great info, thanks for taking the time to post all those suggestions and directions! I’m going to try to make some this weekend.
Thanks!!!
I’d love to hear how your flowers turn out ladies
I still haven’t gotten out to get the flowers but I plan to this weekend! Will let you know. I have been thinking making them everyday though!

Thanks for the information. I made 3 flower pins from silk flowers I purchased at Michael’s. Their selection seemed to be of higher quality than the JoAnn’s I visited. I made a cream peony, a navy peony-like flower, and one with plum hydrangeas. I cut off the stem then used a hot glue gun to attach a circle of moss green felt to the back. Then attached the pin with the hot glue. They look great! I even purchased some skinny ribbon to match each flower to allow me to use them around my waist as J. Crew did this spring/summer. I probably spent less than $10 for the flowers (50% off), pins, and ribbon. As beautiful as the originals are, who will know the difference?
Wow, Shannon, thanks for the source tips! I’d seen MJ Trimming listed as a source in Martha a lot, but never checked out the website. I bet there are lots of other goodies there.
I probably won’t make a pin though. Maybe it’s because I am a wee bit older than you girls, but on me I think it would look too 1998/SATC/desperate. They would be very cute on someone who’s not of an age to draw Sarah Jessica Parker comparisons.
I just ordered my bridesmaids dresses from a dress designer that had the amazing flower pins like j.crew at half the price!!! Only $25!
Luckily the designer sells her flowers online…

The flowers are almost identical to the ones in the jcrew catalog! So beautiful and chic. I got the lilac magnolia flower for my bridesmaids to wear on their dresses!

Thanks for the link Courtney, I bookmarked it! The flowers look beautiful!
I have been thinking about making flower pins since I have made a bunch of flower hair clips for my daughters. They are super easy to do and look so cute! I’m going to try some pins this week. I’ll let you know how they turn out! Thanks for the links too, its great to have some online places to look at but just fyi for everyone the flowers at Michael’s or Joann’s are waaay less expensive and you can usually get them 50% off.
