I made a trip to the B&M this week to check out the new items. Here’s what I found..

Emerson Blouse- I love this blouse. It is true to size and flattering, not boxy. I picked up the Plum which is less pink than it appears online. The fabric is slightly sheer at the sides of waist. You can see where your pants begin but you cannot see stomach detail. The pleating keeps it from being sheer at the chest and down the center of the shirt. I love how versatile this top is. The Emerson looks very cute untied with the top couple of buttons undone, as shown on the model. It also can be dressed up, buttoned and tied in a bow with a pencil skirt and cardigan.

Merino turtleneck sweater- I am sad about the Merino turtleneck because it is really cute on and true to size but it is quite sheer in the chest. I tried on the Bright Fuchsia which is a medium shade hot pink, a little lighter that it appears online. Maybe other colors will not be as sheer but I have my doubts because it seems to be the thinness of the fabric and not the color saturation that makes it see through. To me featherweight turtleneck is an oxymoron. A cami underneath would probably solve the see through problem and I can see these being really cute under jackets. But I don’t understand J.Crew’s thinking here. A bit more about the fit: I took the XS. It hit at the waist and had a relaxed but not boxy fit. The tneck was comfortable, not constricting. The fabric was not itchy.

Bow-necklace cardigan- The Bow-necklace cardigan runs true to size. It is not as fitted as the Merino Rose cardigan. The Bow cardi has more room in the arms and a more relaxed waist. If you want it to fit snug over just a tank or shift dress, you might try sizing down. At first I wasn’t too thrilled with this cardigan. I think I would like it better with just two bows, versus all the way around. But the more I look at the pic, the more it grows on me. I thought the color selection was a bit boring but I’m starting to think the neutrals look quite chic when worn with bright colors.

Tissue tuxedo-front top-I tried on the XS in black. It runs true to size to a little big. It is pretty full in the waist. The black was not sheer. Overall I felt this top was kind of blah. Certainly not worth almost $50.00.

Double-cloth Madeline coat- Oh girls, I love this coat. It is pretty, slimming, and chic without being overly dressy. I tried on the 0 in Dark Poppy. It fits true to size but I need a petite. The Dark Poppy is actually red, not pink or orange, yay! The Madeline fits nicely and comfortably. A lot of the coats I try on feel ill-fitting in the shoulders. The Felicia is one that didn’t feel completely right. When I moved my arms around in the Felicia, the whole coat would move like I had a box over my shoulders. The Madeline however, is not like that at all. I can move my arms freely without the whole coat moving as one. I didn’t even mention this fit issue in my earlier Felicia review because I thought maybe I’m just not a coat person. But the Madeline has changed my mind about that!

Francie skirt- The Francie skirt is described by J.Crew as sitting higher on the waist. Higher than what I am not sure. I tried on the 0 I had to pull it down low on my waist for it to fit. This made it a little too long but I discovered today that it is available in petite, hooray! I think a P0 would fit perfect. The fabric is nice and soft, the skirt is fully lined with poly satin. The fit is very cute. It flares out in an A-line shape but it is not too wide and doesn’t poof out anywhere. I love the colors available. I tried on the Bright Papaya which is more coral than it appears online, if I remember correctly.
