WWD.com published this mini review of J.Crew’s Spring 2009 offerings
“Springtime at J. Crew was all about contrasts and closet-raiding. Blazers were slouchy and tailored in the men’s wear tradition, while vintage-inspired jacquards and diaphanous details came out of grandmother’s wardrobe. Likewise for the muted palette of mint greens and nudes — “old-school makeup colors,” as creative director Jenna Lyons called them — that was a soft counterpoint to the label’s signature saturated hues. “
I love the pale pink and peach palette but I’m not sure about the army green. The shoes in photo #3 are gorgeous. What are your thoughts on these looks for Spring?

Ooh, I love army green, but not usually with such a pastel shade. I like to pair it with a burnt orange, or gray, or red. But pastels – I’ll have to see FFM make some sets and actually try them on. I think it would wash me out. Awesome job getting these pics, Shannon!

I like them. Alright I know I won’t be wearing any of it, but still.
I like army green too esp. with various shades of purple.
I love the over sized slouchy blazer…I can remember when it was in style and I still have a very expensive one that I saved that is in great shape…but, no, I won’t share how old I am…hehe
I absolutely LOVE Army Green… very exciting to see J.Crew offering it. The colors, individual pieces, and styling all remind me of fashion from the 80′s, too.
Sigh, as much as I think they’re pretty colors in the abstract, mint, nude, and peach will leave me looking like the Corpse Bride. But at least it’s a change from all the yellow and orange.
Now army green + red = totally 80s combination. I love it!
I really like the green cargo-type jacket. I’m also a fan of JCrew’s cargo pants and wonder if the green pants are more cargo’s. I am not a fan of the slouchy, over-sized menswear jacket (not a fan of the ’80′s).
Thanks for the pictures Shannon.
I like that first blouse, although that’s not a good color for me. I also like the army green.
Hexicon, Yes, I remember the army green and red. I did and still do like 80′s fashion. I am going to dig my blazer out…I save one and it looks almost exactly like the JCrew one!
If this is what it all looks like, it may be just what I need to keep me OUT of J Crew for awhile;)
“Old school makeup colors?” What does that mean? The only thing that comes to mind with that phrase is blue eyeshadow and frosty pink lipgoss…
I am not loving the G.I. Joe blazer..
