I hope every one had a wonderful holiday! Did the J.crew elves visit your stocking? You know it was a very merry JC Christmas here
I don’t know about you, but I am so over winter. J.Crew.com is over flowing with leftover fall and early winter items. I can barely stand to look at it anymore. The main category of the site has so little regular price items, it is almost laughable. When oh when will we see some new Spring clothing and accessories J.Crew? I desperately need a new catalog!
While I wait, it will be a good time for me to go through my closet and see what I have and what I need to complete spring outfits.
What are you hoping to see this Spring from J.Crew? What colors and cuts are you into for this next season?
I am hoping we do not see all pastels for Spring 09. I would love saturated, warm pinks and peaches.
In anticipation of Spring, I have done a little blog remodeling. I hope you enjoy the new layout and logo

I’m right there with ya! I hope spring brings longer and fitted jackets, sweaters, etc. I know they’ll have new colors but I hope they’re great. I remember 2007 seemed so spectacular! I’m hoping to be a bit more fit for spring/summer 2009. Congratulations to you on your JChristmas gifts!
LOVE the new logo and layout! I’m so over the Fall/Winter and ready for spring looks. Keep up this awesome blog. I love it!
Oh I am desperate for a great jacket! I really hope they offer some nicely fitted blazers instead of more boxy cuts
I’ve been trying to decide if I should order the pink Maggie or wait to see what’s new for spring
LOVE the new layout Shannon…SO pretty!!!
How many of the Maggie’s are left in your size? Surely the price will come down more!
I’m not quite ready for Spring…it hasn’t gotten that cold here yet, so I am still longing to wear my turtlenecks and jackets some more. I do agree, however, that the Fall/Winter looks for J.Crew are tiresome at this point…you would think it would all be on super sale by now!
I can’t wait for the spring catalog!! I also hope that JCrew will offer more fitted jackets with long sleeves.

FFM- Part of the problem with the maggie is, I’m not sure if I need a 0 or petite 0. There are 51 0′s and only 2 p0. I want a snug fit in the waist but I’m worried the shoulders will be too tight in petite
Another problem is, this was on my Xmas list and freaking UPS has not delivered all of our gifts yet. They have MIL’s cashmere sweater from BR too, I am so ticked about that.
So anyway, I definitely should wait to make sure dh didn’t already buy me one. But I am kicking myself for not ordering it when the extra 30 was running
It looks like they are going with the menswaer look, an if that is the case baggy will be in? I for one cannot carry off that look.
I am hoping that J Crew’s quality does not decline further, from what I have been reading from other bloggers the Resort line quality is not good, buttons falling off the Henley V-neck, maybe this is just an isolated case.
You did a nice job with the layout, and the color description is helpful too.
I cannot pull off the Annie hall look either. Not even close. If this is the direction they go for spring, I guess I will be doing more shopping at anthro
I think I have the henley Vneck coming in the mail. I will check the buttons carefully when I do a review
Shannon: It was mentioned on the Aficionada site a couple of weeks ago, it appears to be the button right at the v is the problem. A couple of posters mentioned the same thing I wish I could remember the post for you.
Your blog looks warm and fresh for spring. Very nice. Not quite ready for spring in Vancouver, Canada yet. We have snow on the ground and JC items enroute that I ordered before Christmas!
The new layout looks great.
I would love to see more fitted clothes in vibrant colours for spring. I’m not a fan of pastels or the Annie Hall look either.
I have purchased every pair of JCrew wooden sandals ever so I will be looking for them again this spring too. Not sure what it is about the wood soles but I just love them all. Usually there are a lot of JCrew spring/summer shoes that I absolutely have to have. I keep all my footwear in original boxes so my shoe closet looks like JCrew backroom.
Sounds glorious! Can I come over ??
I’ve been lurking, but thought I’d comment. I LOVE your new look! I, too, am ready for spring looks – can’t wait for the Jan. catalog – hope it has some great new things! Keep up the great work – love reading your blog!
Thanks Elizabeth!
Does anybody know when the Spring items roll out? do we have to wait to the end of January to see the new stuff? I am sooo bored with the current selection.
I don’t know if it’s the end of Jan, I hope not! Someone said they saw a new catalog in store this week.
I pulled out my Jan 08 catalog (yes I still have it, don’t laugh) and it is all spring. Dresses, shorts, minis, beachwear. The only leftover winter items are in the suiting section. Hopefully the same can be said of this years Jan cat. If it is one of those were half the pages are recycled pics, I will be bummed
haha I thought I was the only one that keeps a years worth of jcrew catalogs then recycle the ol ones when the new ones come in! I don’t have the Jan 08 one thou…I keep last years holiday one on file . I wouldn’t be surprise some jcrew clothes look similar just mixing things up w/color. CANNOT wait for the Jan 09′ catalog. Looks like I won’t be shopping for awhile till it gets spring like weather!

Shannon, I love your blog. Thanks for all your reviews with pictures. I am around your size. I’m 5’3 and 113lbs. I ordered the Maggie thinking the silhouette would be perfect for me but the P0 did not fit well on me at all. I like my coats to fit my body since I live in CA and don’t need to layer. The body of the P0 fit okay but the arms were extremely tight. I can still move around but it’s by no means comfortable. I also expected the the jacket to have more of a waist but it was more straight. I returned the Maggie knowing that if I get a regular 0 or a P2 that the body would be too big and not as well-fitted.
Thanks so much for your thoughts on the maggie, nobody. I think I will pass on the petite then and wait to see if the price comes down enough to justify having the waist taken in on the regular.
Jenel- I am thinking the same, that we will see similar items this year in updated colors. There was quite a few prints in the Jan catalog last year. Zebra, links, the bahia, and campo de’fiori dresses. There was also a lot of nautical stripes and swiss dots
Honestly, I’m not much of a spring person, mostly thanks to life crippling allergies, but change would be nice. I’m tired of sweaters.
There should be a new rollout of spring goods starting the second week of January. There are a few good things in my opinion in the resort collection already in stores that would mesh nicely with new spring goodies!
I buy more Jcrew items during the fall/winter season because their designs for this season are stronger. I find their spring/summer collection to be ordinary. For its price, I can buy cheaper at GAP or pay a little more at Anthro for something with a nice twist.
I ordered the Vneck henley full price a few weeks ago & was disappointed with the sizing. The extra small was hanging on me. I promptly returned it.
I’m more of a Fall/Winter gal myself (love the warm sweaters and wool pants) but that said, I am tired of seeing all the winter stuff online so I am ready for Spring! I am a Jackie cardigan nut so I’m always excited to see what new colors they will come out with. And, yes, I also keep my old J Crew catalogs to peruse through from time to time and see which items that I wish I bought at the time!
PS: Shannon- love your blog and the pretty pink pastel update. J Crew used to be consistent with its sizing but now I am all over the place: XS to L, depending on the item. I used to be able to depend on a Medium to fit me but not anymore. So thank you!
Marie: The sizing is off on that top, the description said it was fitted but only in the shoulders, and the body is loose. Sizing down for me might work but then again it would be too tight in the shoulders. I read somewhere that the short sleeved cardigan runs big too even though that description says it is fitted. J Crew sizing is driving me nuts!
nobody, Shannon–
I purchased the Maggie jacket in a regular 2, and I always have the same problem… too tight in the shoulders and too baggy through the body. I am 5’3″ and constantly vacillate between petite and regular trying to find the perfect fit. I love J.Crew jackets but it always seem like a compromise. This is bad enough without the return (or lack thereof) of the Final Sale
I love this blog. I thought I was the only one obsessed with J Crew. I agree, am done with winter. I have several spring items in my shopping bag right now waiting for a better price
Welcome Marianne, thanks for posting
. I too hope we see some mark downs soon!
