I ordered the Henley v-neck sweater in Putty. The color is pretty accurately depicted online as a yellowed pale brown. It is a shade darker than the Champagne ringspun tees. I do not dislike the Putty but it doesn’t do me any favors. I think I am better off with more depth of color or a pink base.
The sweater is 100% cotton in a 14 gauge knit. The material is thin and in the Putty, semi-sheer. The cotton is soft, not itchy, and does not look like a knit that will pill. It is definitely a Spring or layering weight.
In my opinion, the Henley v-neck runs a size big. I ordered my usual extra small. I liked the fit in the arms and shoulders but the chest and waist had a relaxed fit. It verges on baggy in the waist. What bothers me more than the slouchy fit is the length. This sweater is very long on me. When pulled down all the way, it hits below my butt. I think I am a little short in the waist though. If you are tall and/or long waisted, you may like the additional length. My only hesitation in recommending sizing down on this sweater is, if you have a large chest the buttons may pull and gape in a smaller size.
Speaking of buttons, the top two buttons on this sweater are basically for looks. I was thinking, one could be fastened for more coverage but when I tried it the neckline pulled in a weird way and it did not lay flat.
Overall not a bad sweater, I do like the buttons and I think the neckline is flattering. However, since it is roomy in the waist and very long, there is just too much fabric around the hips and waist for me. I think I am going to exchange it for the cotton v-neck sweater in Jasmine.

I think it actually looks really cute on you as a good relaxed sweater. If it goes on sale, you should get it again (though maybe in a different color if putty isn’t for you)
That’s good idea. If I can pick up a jasmine or spearmint for $30-35, I’d be pretty happy with it
That’s “a” good idea, I mean.
I need a nap
It’s hard to believe that’s an extra small b/c it looks so big on you. I appreciate the info. This is a sweater that I like, but I’m guessing I won’t be able to wear it. It will probably gape across the chest, which is never a good look. It’s a shame it doesn’t come in a smaller size b/c I think it’s a cute look on you. (Not that it looks bad as is, I just think it would be better if it were a little more fitted).
This sweater is on my list so I appreciate the review. I’ll order my normal medium since I have an hourglass shape but that appears to be a lot of fabric for an xs. It still looks cute on you though.
I . . . don’t like it. Adds age.
It’s a nice sweater, but I don’t think it’s for you. A little too big.
I purchased this sweater and I found it a little big and long (I am 5’4), the description said it was fitted, and I wonder why it said that! I felt if I sized down it would be too fitted in the shoulders. I am keeping mine I am just going to layer it with a Perfect fit tee. I got the Light Spearmint one and the color is beautiful.
I agree with you–the fit and color are not good. So many other things to love:) Thanks for another awesome review!
Foiled again by JC sizing!
Oh well, just means I’ll have $68 credit plus my $25 xmas gift card next time I hit the store
I would maybe trade it in for the cashmere Lori henley. It’s on sale for almost the same price and it is much prettier (although probably not wearable in summer) and it comes in a similar putty color.
I agree it looks a tad bit big on you, and the color is just not exciting. I went to get a ringspun scoopneck based on your review & they were sold out of Jasmine in my size! JC should reimburse all of you ladies who review their clothes. At least a gift card or something.
It looks very comfy and relaxed. I think it would also look really cute with a victoria cami and a felted mini. I’ve got two camis, and I’ve been desperately looking for a vneck sweater to layer over but I’ve been having trouble with colors and sometimes the weight of the sweater doesn’t work well.
PS, I love your color descriptions! They’re super helpful.
