Anthropologie: August tee

The August tee by Ric Rac fits true to size. In most Anthro tops I take a small or size 2 vs J.Crew tops in which I always need an extra small.

The tee is made of Pima cotton so it is ultra soft and drapes beautifully. The August tee is fitted in the chest with an empire waist. The waist of the top lays quite flat. It does not give a pregnant look like some empire cuts can.

The most gorgeous thing about this top is the pleated cowl-neck. It is unique feminine touches like this that always bring me back to Anthropologie. The neckline drapes beautifully and is very flattering. The sleeves continue the pleating detail but are long enough that they lay nicely over the shoulders.

I purchased the August tee in brown. The shade is a warm under toned greyed brown. I don’t usually buy unique tops in multiple colors but I love this tee so much I am thinking of ordering the purple which looks gorgeous. At only $48, I don’t think I can go wrong.

Shannon, that tee looks great on you! I love it with the beaded necklace; the shirt and necklace go perfectly together! I was in Anthro today and missed this tee; I’ll have to take a look online.

You & your fair skin. Reminds me of Anne Hathaway.

That top looks AMAZING on you.

    Very flattering top!!

Wow, that tee looks great on you! Better than it does on the mannequin honestly. What a great price too, much easier to handle than the Jcrew prices I’m used to looking at ;)

Hey Shannon, that tee looks fabulous on you. I was so inspired I went and tried it on at Anthro today! I’m quite pale like you, and couldn’t decide between the brown and the purple. Any input? I can’t really see how it compliments your face- do you think the brown washes you out at all- and what do you do to remedy that? I like the purple too, but was worried it might not be as versatile. I can’t decide! Thanks for the review- this is now my go-to site because you’re my body double :)

Hi Lindsay- Lol at body double. Now you have to tell me your favorite buys, so I can go out and get them :P
Do you have dark hair? I think the purple would be gorgeous on you if so. I do love the brown too. I think it is warm enough not to wash me out but it is a little..blah on it’s own. However, layered it is fabulous. So I guess it depends on how you want to wear the top. On it’s own, I’d go with purple. Layered, the brown. That said, I want both LOL!

I forgot to mention, I found 2 tiny holes in the sleeve of this top today, so check carefully before you buy!

Thanks Shannon, I definitely will check the top. And I’ll certainly let you know if I find any great fits too! You’re right about Anthro having a broader selection for smaller or shorter sizes. I also appreciate that a lot of their tops have a tie waist or at least a clearly defined waist. Why can’t J.Crew get onboard with that?

And I have dark blonde hair, so I’m leaning toward the purple. I think with your brown hair there is probably enough contrast with the shirt for it to look nice, but I’m thinking I will look too monotone. I’m going to go with the purple, thanks for alerting me to this top!!

Shannon: when you bend down, as to pick an item up from the floor, does the top gape much to where you can see down the top? I’m thinking it’s fitted enough that it would not but wanted to ask. Thanks!

Irl-It lays perfectly flat against the chest for me, no gaping

Wow. I just saw the EXACT same tee at NY & Company here… how weird!
