I love a cardigan. I think I have more cardigans in my closet than any other single type of clothing. When ever I have a some what boring outfit, a cardigan saves the day. If a neutral top is washing me out, a brightly colored Jackie makes it work. Sometimes though my cardigan collection does not get used to it’s full potential. I get stuck in the same old jeans/tee/cardi rut.
Luckily, cardigans in every length and color are all over the runway for Spring. I didn’t have to look hard for some inspiration

Fun ideas. By the way, I wanted to tell you that I love your Upcoming Reviews list!
Thanks Heidi
Ditto on the Upcoming Reviews list! Thanks for the comments about and photos of “runway” cardigans. I agree that a cardigan is an important wardrobe staple. I have dozens of them, and I’m always looking for new ways to wear them (which is why I love your blog so much — you know how to work those cardigans!).
I totally agree with your thoughts on cardis. This is one wardrobe staple that I’ve been working on building up this year. They’re so great for instantly pulling an outfit together. This is one piece that I don’t ever see going out of style–thank goodness
Hey Shannon, random question, but can I ask your opinion on J.Crew flat boots? I’m your same size and height, and noticed you don’t wear boots much. Do you think flat boots look all right on a petite person with an hourglass shape? Do you prefer this look yourself?
I’m specifically thinking of getting the fabienne boots, but my BF thinks flat boots tucked into jeans look bad on girls. Thoughts?
I love flat boots tucked into skinny jeans or cords. I’ve seen many short gals in tall boots and it looks great.
I have one pair of flat boots but I don’t wear them much because they are a little too rugged
Hey Shannon, thanks for the input on flat boots. Glad you think shorter girls can wear them too. I’ll just have to get the ones I have in mind and convince my bf that they are cute!
Shannon, this is OT, but I could use your advice regarding one of my favorite JC sweaters. I recently bought the open crew neck Dream sweater in Bright Rhubarb. I absolutely love the color on its own, but I am having the hardest time finding the right color of pants and accessories to pair it with. Obviously it goes great with jeans, but I work in a somewhat “traditional” office at a university, and jeans are only allowed on special occasions (game days, homecoming, etc.) I wore it on Monday with dove gray pants, but ugh, I don’t think this was the greatest combination. I have an amber necklace (a chunky necklace made of raw pieces of amber) that has yellowish/brownish tones, and surprisingly, it seems to complement the sweater quite nicely. Maybe those are the colors I should go with? If you have any ideas for pant colors and brands (JC, Anthro, etc.) that might work with this sweater for my “traditional” dull office life, I would be VERY grateful! Sorry I rambled on here.
Thanks!
Nice compilation! Thank you for the ideas- there is one for evey mood and taste!
JKW- How about a dark navy or chocolate brown wool pant? If the neck of the sweater lays flat against your shoulders and chest, a medium length gold chain and gold belt would be pretty. Plus pointy toe pumps to match the pants
You could also do the ivory lux knit cords on a casual day.
Shannon — thanks for the suggestions regarding the Bright Rhubarb sweater. I do need more wool pants, and the chocolate brown should work well with that sweater. Haven’t tried the lux knit cords, but now I’m tempted!
