Sun bleached appliqué tee

The sun bleached tee fits the same as the ringspun graphic tees, true to size with a snug fit. I sized up to a small to get a more relaxed fit around the chest and back. This tee fits a little long on me, hitting at the low hip.

The sun bleached or as many are calling it, cherry blossom tee is made of textured cotton jersey. To me the knit feels the same as the ringspun. I does not have the soft drape that I usually associate with jersey. Although you can see dark pants through the lower portion of the tee, I did not find it sheer at all in the chest.

I purchased this tee in weathered stone which is a neutral greyed brown. The color was very blah on me. Because I am pale, I think it would have been more flattering if the brown was a warm or pinked undertoned. The weathered stone shade is accurately depicted on the J.Crew model in my opinion.

The applique on this tee is a scattering of cherry blossom like flowers. The flowers are off white with matching stitching. I was hoping that the flowers had a blue tinge or stitching. I think that would have been beautiful paired with the aqua Jackie cardigan. Pale pink flowers would also have been lovely. Unfortunately on my tee, the flowers were flat white. The edges of the flowers are unfinished so this tee will need handwashing. I did not notice any excessive fraying on my tee.

Overall, I think the sun bleached tee is a pretty, neutral top that will look great on others. On me though, I just did not love it.

Anthropologie report

I made a quick visit to Anthro this weekend. As usual, I saw many pretty little things but I restrained myself determined to only bring home one can’t live without piece.
Here is a quick rundown of the things I looked closely at

The Stacked Petal scoopneck by Little Yellow Button in sky is a beautiful pale blue top that I thought would be gorgeous under a cardigan. Unfortunately, I did not like the fullness of the puff sleeves and how tight the banding was around the arms. Also the petals are thicker than I expected. They sit up off the chest quite a bit. I took an XS in this top.

The Triple Falls tee by Rebecca Beeson is a much more suitable layering piece. No puffs sleeves and the ruffles lay flat against the chest. This top does have a very low and wide scoopneck though. I would need some fashion tape to make sure the corner of my bra was not peeking out. I tried this on is a 2 which fit well but I probably could size down to a 0 with out issue.

The Twists and Turns top by Splendid was one of my favorites. This tee is a pale pink and grey stripe jersey that drapes nicely and is not sheer. It is on the long side, hitting past the hips. I think this tee would be really cute with straight leg jeans and ballet flats. As much as I loved it though, I didn’t want to pay $58.00. I tried this on in a small which was a little roomy around the waist and hips, so I will order an XS if it gets marked down online.

The Calliope dress by Hero and Leander is gorgeous. The color is a stunning rich blue. This dress is pull on stlye with an elastic waist. I tried this on in a 0 which was perfect. The hem hits right above the knee. Usually a bunch of pleating on the chest looks awkward on me. The fabric tends to fall down in between the girls, which is not cute lol. But not with this dress, it drapes beautifully.
The only issue I saw with it, was the fabric is a little static-y. The top layer was sticking to the lining. This dress is fabulous and I love it but it may be 6 months before it is warm enough to wear it up here. I’m hoping it goes on sale because $188.00 is steep.

While standing in the checkout line, I made a quick perusal of the jewelry. The Early Hawthorn necklace caught my eye. The beads are just the right size for a bib necklace in my opinion. The design makes a statement but it is not overwhelming. Also, it is priced right for resin costume jewelry, $38.

The Plucked fruit necklace was another favorite. I love this necklace in pink with it’s clusters of delicate but not tiny beads. This one would be gorgeous layered with gold chains and/or pearls. Again, priced right imo, just $38.00

So, these are the items I tried on but did not buy. I will post a full review of my Must Have piece soon ;)

J.Crew shoes: Sizing round up

I received a couple new pairs of J.Crew shoes this week. A huge thank you goes out to the bloggers who picked these up for me!
Rather than review each individually, I thought is would be great to have one post were we ALL could list our JC shoe collection and how each style runs. If you have time, please post your shoe sizing opinions in the comments. Thanks in advance to all who can help!

It’s hard to determine my exact shoes size since brands vary so much. In the past, I have always purchased a sz 7 but I have recently realized many of my shoes are just slightly too big. So, I will now normally buy a sz 6.5 for pumps and a 7 for any heel with a strap. I always buy flats in a 7.

Lulu peep-toe heels: I have a size 7 and these are a half size big on me. I have to wear a heel grip to keep them on. Once I put that in though, they are very comfortable. Plenty of toe box room. The peeptoe opening rubs just slightly on my big toe but they are brand new. I expect no problems once I have worn them a few times. The Lulu’s shows toe cleavage only on the pinky.

Juliet pumps: I purchased these in a sz 6.5 because the 7 had too much room behind my heel. The 6.5 just fits, no extra room at all. The Juliet’s are a little narrow and flat in the toe box on me. The rest of the shoe is comfortable. If I buy anymore Juliet’s I will size up to a 7 and add a heel grip so I can have more toe comfort. The Juliet’s show toe cleavage on all 5 toes.

Spectator peep-toes: I have these in a size 7. There is a tiny bit of room behind my heel but not enough to size down to a 6.5. These heels are very comfortable with plenty of room in the toe box. The Spectator’s show 3 toes of cleavage.

Alessia peep-toes: I have the Alessia’s in a sz 7, I could definitely have sized down to a 6.5. Since they have a strap though, they stay on just fine. These heels are comfortable with plenty of room in the toe box. They have a criss-cross design that shoes 4 toes.

Marjorie metallic flats: These flats are tts, I took a size 7. The width is perfect for me but these flats are cut wide. The leather is not lined on the inside of the shoe and is very soft. This causes the sides of the flats to gape open on me. The toe box is comfortable but there is hardly any of it. The Marjorie flats show lots of toe cleavage on all 5 toes.

I’m including some pics below of my collection. Please note though, both the Alessia and Spectator are pinker in real life than they appear in my photos.

Distressed vintage slim jean in worn indigo wash

The Vintage Slim jeans in worn indigo fit true to size. I ordered a size 26 which is what I wear in Joe’s jeans and AG and they fit very well. I do have a small amount of room at the back of the waist on these but that may be part of J.Crew’s “anchored at the hips” design.

The jeans fit very snug across the hips and upper bottom when I first put them on but I have worn them a couple of times and they have relaxed perfectly. Although they are fitted in the backside and have some what low pockets, they do not bunch up under the bottom or around the upper thigh like some jc pants I have tried in the past. The vintage slim’s have a roomy thigh with a straight leg from the knee to down. They have a higher waist then most of my jeans, a 9″ rise.

The indigo wash is a medium dark blue with some fading in the thigh and butt. There is only a slight amount of whiskering across the hips. I have not noticed any color transfer from the dye.

The Distressed vintage jeans are definitely distressed. There are two holes in the jeans, one on the right thigh, the other on the left knee. J.Crew has worn the denim all the way through so there are just white strings left running across each hole. I do wish that they had left a little more fabric in tacked, so there was some natural distressing left to be had. If the stringing pulls out at the thigh, I plan to patch it with a cute pink patterned fabric. I don’t think a gaping hole showing my leg would be very chic lol.

The length on the vintage jeans is 32″. You can see from the pic below I need about an 1 1/2″ hemmed before I can wear them unrolled. I have been wanting to try the pegged jean look JC has been touting in their catalogs for awhile. But being 5’4″ and curvy I was very doubtful of the style working for me. When the vintage slim jeans arrived, I threw them on and rolled ‘um up. I was surprised by how non-goofy it looked! Some how these straight leg jeans do not looked awkward rolled like all the other’s I have do. You know what that means.. now I must have all the magic Vintage slims, damn you J.Crew!
