I spotted this new watercolor skirt by J.Crew in the latest Marie Claire. I think it is gorgeous and my mind is already churning with bracelet ideas to match it! The price is a little steep though, listed at $110. What do you think of this new skirt from J.Crew?
Have you noticed that J.Crew have been featured in magazines a LOT the last few months. Seems like they are every where! JC items are on multiple pages in this issue of Marie Claire. I have also noticed them being featured repeatedly in past issues. As well as in Bazaar, Cookie, and several other magazines.
Do you think JC has stepped up their advertising budget or is it because they are right on point with the current trends? Perhaps, it is due to fashion magazines adjusting to lower price points because of the economy..?

I love this skirt. It’s sooooo pretty. I wonder if it will become available online or if it’s being sold in stores only. By chance, would you know the price of it?
This skirt is beautiful! Would be great for easter! Thanks for sharing!
Does anyone know when the April roll out is hitting stores/online?
I. Must. Have. That. Skirt.
I’d pay full price even. LOL Shannon, I immediately thought jewelry too. My next Crew order will include several scoop-neck tees to show off my new hand-made necklaces.
When a brand is featured in a magazine, they do not have necessarily pay for the advertising. The editors at the magazines are working closely with the brand’s PR people. They will email or call and say we are featuring a spread on floral items. Have someone walk some items to our building. And since J.Crew is in New York, it is easy for an intern to walk/cab/subway uptown with some items for the magazine. Once they are done with the items, which are usually samples, the magazine has a messenger return them to the designer/brand. I work in New York for a dress designer and this what we do. We are featured in tons of magazines every year and do not pay for the free PR.
Crew-girl-It is $110
Laura-I heard store this Friday and online next week. I’m guessing Thurs for online, that seems to be the MO.
Hexicon- We are obsessed LOL! I have a ginormous bead order coming today, woot! It is czech druk beads in practically all of the colors for bib necklaces and fringe bracelets
Anon-thank you so much for the insight. Very interesting!
SOOO cute!!!
If a company is doing well they DO NOT advertise. If they need to step up traffic (business) then they will pay to advertise.
FYI –
I just spoke to a CS rep at Easton Town Center in Columbus, Ohio and she told me that their new arrivals are out on the floor now.
I think the skirt is very pretty, and I would consider it on sale, but if I’m going to buy a new spring skirt, I think I want a solid. Prints don’t always look great on me.
I saw this page in my magazine this month and immediately was drawn to the J.Crew floral skirt…for some reason I am always drawn to their items! So cute and pretty…maybe it’ll come in petite!
The skirt is beautiful, and I want it! JC seems to have an affinity for prints that echo the Impressionism art movement. Remember that water lily silk tank? I wanted it, but the price never came down enough for my wallet. I’m anxious to see the April rollout in the catalog and online!
I think this skirt is really pretty. Hoping it will be offered in other colors too!
I adored this skirt as soon as I saw it! I hope that there are some around after a sale OR I might have to get it and pay full price. Oh, no!
I’m hoping my store has it Saturday so I can try it on.
love the skirt! JC does what most designers do…send the entire collection to the styling dept. at different magazines. That is why you’ll always find them in magazines!
This is such a pretty skirt. It reminds of the Golden Roses, only for spring/summer. I wonder if it will be lightweight wool, or perhaps cotton.
Thank you for sharing, Shannon.
item 8, what’s the price and who’s the designer? thx!
The skirt is only $88, sold in stores, and is no longer on the J Crew website.
