Looking forward to Fall….

Last week I re-made my Acorn bracelet as a Collection piece. You may remember I discontinued the costume/gold plated version. The bracelet turned out so cute in 14k gold filled. I am totally jealous that I had to send it off to the customer instead of keeping it for myself lol. I must re-do my original bracelet now. It just so pretty on the new parallel curb chain and with the softer gold stardust beads.

Yesterday I worked on some Peony twig earrings. Which reminded me how much I miss wearing my dark peony cashmere sweater. I wore the heck out of that thing last winter and believe it or not, it still looks decent.

Both of these designs with their deep colors and nature themes, got me eager for Fall. I am so over summer, already. Seems like we saw nothing but washed out colors the whole season. While pale neutrals certainly have their place, an over abundance of them leaves me very blah. The only thing that is even tempting me from JC’s current offerings is the Warm shell silk linen sweater jacket and unlike the J.Crew styling, I don’t wear sweater jackets with shorts (what’s up with that anyway?). So, I think I can wait a bit for that one.

I took another peek at our J.Crew fall preview and while I am still not digging the furry jacket, I can’t wait for the first Fall roll out Aug 2nd. I am loving the tee in pic #1 and the jacket in #2. Although the overall looks are still too bland for my taste. They need a pop of color.

I’m sure there are loads of cute pieces coming our way. I think J.Crew really does Fall best. I am completely in love with the camel pants, striped top, and scarf look above. I think my Acorn bracelet is going to look fab with that outfit. Must have it!
Unfortunately, I still have not received my Fall look book. I’m getting quite grumbly about that!

What do you think? Are you still shopping for summer? Are planning out your Fall wardrobe yet?

My two loves, bows and beads

Thanks so much for the feedback on the brass jewelry! I have decided not to invest in a wholesale order right now. I need to think carefully about how to upscale brass or if I should just scrap the whole idea. I may still make myself a scarab necklace.. If I do, I’ll post and maybe you can give me your thoughts on if it looks cheap or awkward with the rest of my shop.

In the meantime, I’ve decide to get back to some designs closer to my heart…

Last night I had a flash of inspiration. I made a rock crystal necklace a couple weeks ago and I had a nagging feeling that it was missing something. Suddenly it hit me that little black bows tied to it would give it the depth that it was sorely lacking. I am now in love with the necklace. It’s funny how such a small detail can make a world of difference.

This totally revived my desire to start working some ribbon into my designs. I’ve been meaning to add some ribbon necklaces to my shop for ages but kept getting distracted by other things.

I think you ladies are very wise to caution me about the brass. I’m so glad I posted. That look probably isn’t really me and I will have to try much harder to make it so. On the other hand, you know I am all about bows and girlie details. So, I am going to stick with what I know ;)

Here is my Black tie crystal necklace. The first in what will hopefully be a whole ribbon collection

What do you think about brass jewelry?

I’m thinking about making a line of brass jewelry. It will be an investment though because the wholesale site has a $200 min. Of course I can buy just one or two pendants off Etsy but they are obviously so much more expensive than buying direct.

So, can you share your fashionable opinions with me? What do you think of brass jewelry? Do you wear it? Do you think it is over done right now?

I’ve talked to the Co. I am thinking of buying from and they say they have never had any returns or complaints about the brass greening skin. That the metal does lighten and darken, which many consider part of it’s charm but I can use a wax to prevent that if I like.

Here are a couple of the pendants I have in my cart right now

For some reason I love this scarab although an icky big may be a hard sell lol

The designs I have in mind are similar to these. Large pendants with simple beading. I don’t want to make anything too fringy and hippie looking.

Of all the times to be broke.. *cries*
And by broke I mean, just paid my JC card bill broke. Ouch.
