Closet cleaning: Lots of J.crew for sale

Okay, so my closet is freaking ridiculous. I can’t cram another tissue tee in there it’s so tight lol. I am selling off everything that I never wear (Dh is thrilled).
I have lots of J.Crew tops, a couple American apparel things, a pair of Joe’s capris, and more.
I set up my old testing blog as my Wardrobe Resale site. You can take a peek here:
http://wardroberesale.blogspot.com/

I’m setting prices low because I really want to get rid of this stuff. However, I don’t want to get screwed on shipping. So everything is listed with the shipping included. Some things will cost $4.90 to ship because they are a lb. Most tees and tops will be $3-$4. This includes $$ for the box or tyvek envalope. So keep that in mind when you are looking at prices.

I have a lot more pieces to list, so Subscribe or Follow if you want to be updated
Thanks!

Anthropologie Juxtaposition booties review

A couple weeks ago, I went into the city with the intention of going to Nordstrom for some ugly walking shoes for Paris sight seeing. Well…I stop at Anthropologie first and I am glad I did. I had been eyeing the Juxtaposition booties online but I didn’t think they could possibly be comfortable enough to walk all day over cobblestone in.

When I put them on, my mouth dropped open and dh said he knew then they were coming home with us lol. The boots are so cushy and comfy. The heel and arch are lined with an insole and all around the inside of the boot is a padded fabric. The padding and insole are thin, so it doesn’t alter the sizing of the boot, it took my usual 37. Nor does it over heat your feet. But it does make a huge comfort difference for me.

The back of the heel is the only place that is covered with leather and not padded. I got a little over enthusiastic the first.. uhh second I bought these and wore them all over Seattle with no socks. By the end of several hours of walking
( including cobblestone, great practice ;) ) the back of my heel had a blister. Like most unbroken in boots, the heel on these slips up and down when walking a little. BUT that is only with out socks. I have been waiting before posting my review on these because I wanted to wear them several times with socks to see if I have developed any sore feet and I have not. They’ve been a dream.

The heel height on the booties is 2.75″. To me it does not even feel like a heel. I have to walk several hours, up hills for the ball of my foot to get even slightly tired. The sole of the boot is rubber which offers more pavement cushioning and traction. It adds a bit of a rugged feel to the boot but not so much that they look like you should be digging ditches in them.

The leather on the Juxtaposition booties is a worn in caramel. Every time I wear them they get a bit more aged and gorgeous. When I saw them online, I was worried that the silver rickrack accents might look flashy and date the boots. But it is very thin and just barely noticeable.

So, after seeing these babies I knew I wasn’t going to spend my money on any ugly shoe no matter how great for walking lol. I think by switching up between these boots on colder wet days and flats on warmer days I will be set for walking all over Paris. I’m glad I brought these home when I did because they are currently back ordered in all sizes online.

Roxy reviewed these boots on her fab Anthro blog today, take a peek at her thoughts.

Now for the in real life pics.. You are going to think I am crazy but I kind of love them with socks and a skirt. No, not neon ankle socks, I haven’t completely lost my mind but wool knee socks. I know it breaks up my figure and makes my legs look thicker but I kind of dig it anyway lol. What do you think?

Hopefully my Martin and Osa boyfriend jeans will be here soon because I think they will be perfect for recreating the rolled up jean look as seen in the Anthro catalog!

Second pic shows my size 0 Inverness trench. It arrived today, woot! What do you think, does it look better than the 2? I tried it on with a sweater and it feels roomy enough.
Thanks again to the ladies who emailed me about the trench at their store!!

PS- Sorry about the phone. No I am not trying to do some sort of Sears catalog pose lol

JCrew Downtown field jacket review

I hadn’t given J.Crew’s Downtown field jacket much thought.. Until I saw it styled with the Minnie pants and plaid shirt in Spetember’s catalog (see my Aug 19th post). I LOVE this look, so I went to the store to see the jacket in real life.

I tried on the extra small and as usual, it was too big :( Inside, under the tag, the jacket touts an adjustable waist. This got me excited for a minute! The jacket has tabs on each side that snap in the back. Unfortunately, there are only two snaps and the jacket was already at it’s smallest. One more set of snaps and this jacket would have come a lot closer to working for me. Looking at my pics closely though, it does look big in the shoulders and chest as well.
I gotta say, I am close to giving up on J.crew entirely. I can’t believe I am being completely sized out of a retail chain store. *Biting tongue*, I’ll spare you may well rehearsed JC sizing rant.

Anyway, the fabric of the Field jacket is resin coated canvas which is pretty stiff and noisy. In fact, even if this jacket fit, I don’t know that I could deal with a jacket announcing my every move like this one does. Maybe after breaking in the field jacket quiets down?

I will say I really did like the style of the jacket. It is very cool and I love the standing collar. It may be a bit too casual for me though.. I think it looks best dressing down a fancier outfit rather than with the jeans I usually wear.

I tried this jacket on in Mossy brown, which is a dark olive drab. I compared it to the black and there was barely a noticeable difference in color.

What do you think of the Downtown field jacket?

J.Crew cashmere: New and improved or not?

J.Crew says that they have improved their cashmere sweaters for this Fall. I went to the store this week to see for myself.

Last year, I bought 3 of J.crew’s cashmere sweaters. 2 long sleeve tees and one argyle. I was pleased with them.. at first. Looking back I think I was too generous with my opinion of them. I didn’t really mind when I found a few small pills on the underarms of the sweaters. However, after a season of wearing them, there is now much more than small pills. On my most loved dark peony sweater there are now large pills over the entire sweater, it’s very fuzzy, and honestly pretty scraggly looking. The sweater is covered in white wiry shaped threads. As I said, my sweater is not white, it is peony….So what are these white threads? They have the texture of polyester but maybe they are the coarse hairs that are suppose to be removed in quality cashmere. Whatever they are, I am not pleased.
Besides the pilling, all of my sweaters are stretched out and baggy. My argyle sweater looks 2 sizes too big and I paid $140 for that sucker. I think I am going to give them all a soak in warm water. Has anyone tried this or have any other tips for shrinking up cashmere?

Well after last year’s disappointment I am not willing to risk my money on J.Crew’s cashmere. I will say though, this year’s material is different than the sweaters I have. I can’t say how it compares to lasts year’s solid colored v-neck. But the texture is different than the tees and argyle v-neck I have. This season’s have a tighter, matter weave. They are definitely not as fuzzy as last year’s sweaters. But they are a little less soft as well. I tried on the cashmere V-neck in what I think was sweet guava. I am very happy that they have raised the neckline on the V-neck! Last year’s were so low, you could practically see my belly button. I tried on the XS and the fit in the arms is quite snug. However, the chest and upper waist fit was boxy on me. It didn’t look uber baggy and unflattering. But it gave me a rectangular figure which I don’t have. The sweater fit long, just above the widest point of the hip on me.

The material on the new cashmere is thin but the weave is tight. The guava color, which is quite light, is not see through but just. The material is thin enough to show every pocket, zipper and button on my jeans. But, I had it pulled snugly down instead of left to gather around the hips.

Another thing I liked about the new sweaters, is that they have a finished hem. I know some people like the rolled hem, they think it is more casual and modern. But I really dislike how the hem keeps rolling higher and higher the longer you have the sweater. And honestly I don’t need anymore rolls around my waist, thank you very much.

So, I found J.crew’s new cashmere promising but I am not convinced. After spending 100s of dollars and being fooled before I cannot take the risk. In my opinion, if J.crew want to convince it’s loyal customers that it has heard the concerns and disappointment and taken steps to improve quality, they are going to have to be the one to take on a little risk and cost this time. I’d like to see J.Crew make an effort to win us back by sending out a couple of samples to their huge blogger fan base. No, not necessarily to me lol. I trust the quality opinions and reviews of any of the JC bloggers and until I hear good things from them about how J.Crew cashmere wears, I won’t be buying.

Have you seen the new J.Crew cashmere? What are your thoughts?

PS-Pardon my irl pic quality. My little camera over exposed the pic and left it looking shadowy and grainy around the chest. I wanted to share anyway so you can see the fit.
