American Eagle Outfitters jackets

I was out running some last minute trip errands today and decided to stop at AE to pick up some more undies, you can never pack too many! Sorry if tmi lol but I just love the Aerie boybriefs. They are so comfortable.

Anyway, I remembered Appgal’s post on Gigi’s fab blog about a new Chanel-ish AE jacket. I spotted it right away and had to try it on. The salesman let me know that although they are only advertising hoodies and tees on sale, the jackets were also buy one get one half off, “for today only!”. I love a store that makes an effort, so I grabbed a second jacket off the rack to try.

First we have the Prep School blazer. I cannot find this one online but the Sku is 160815131, it retails for $59.50. The shell of the jacket is a dark grey cotton herringbone. It is lined in navy blue poly with blue and bright pink piping. The collar is also lined in a navy, white, and pink tie stripe. The blazer is seriously cute with the collar popped. The jacket is accented with antique silver colored anchor buttons and a gold emblem sewn onto the pocket. I think the Prep school blazer is nicely constructed and the perfect weight for Fall. The fabric is soft and not itchy at all.
This jacket fit true to size for me. I thought I might have to size up, I use to have to buy a medium in AE shirts but the extra small was the best fit for me.

Next is the jacket Appgal posted about, the Vintage blazer. This rang up as the Ladylike jacket, it retails for$69.50. I took the XS in this as well. The jacket is 100% cotton with a… nubby weave. I’m sure that is not the correct term but I can’t think of how else to describe it. The fabric is not fuzzy but is has texture. The vintage blazer is accented with grey braided trim edged in frayed black cotton. There is also a removable flower pin. It is made up of 4 round pieces of fabric stitched through the center. The petal ends are unfinished but the fabric is cotton, not chiffon. The jacket snaps closed with 4 large snaps. I’m not crazy about the snaps, they are too bright. I think I will change them out to black after the trip. I will also have to have the sleeves hemmed. They are too long, so I cuffed them in the pic.

So, I could not resist adding these to my suitcase. I know, I have packing sickness lmao. I’m like that lady who brings a trunk with her on vacation. I’ll leave behind my JCP blazer and I’m cutting outfit #1 and #3 below in favor of the AE jackets. Believe it or not, I still have plenty of room for souvenirs :D
With the jackets promo plus a 15% birthday discount, I picked up these and my undies for 100 bucks. How can I say no to that!? ;)

Ann Taylor Loft Fall style guide

I made my very first visit to Ann Taylor and Ann Taylor Loft last weekend. I have always thought of Ann Taylor as a little boring and matronly but I was so wrong. Both AT and ATL were FULL of cute pieces. I wanted to try on so many things but unfortunately I was on a mission, for black boots, and I had to remain focused lol. Next time I at the mall though, ATL is going to be my first stop.

I did end up finding just the boots I was looking for at ATL. I also bought a couple pair of tights to go with my pencils skirts. It was fun experimenting but I am letting the socks with skirts thing go. I am sure you are happy to hear it lmao.

Anyway, when I was checking out I spotted a little ATL look book catalog on the counter. Image that, leaving a catalog out for a customer to take instead of claiming you only have four and they are not good enough to have one. Oops sorry, by gones…

The Look book / style guide has some J.Crew-ish styling. Lots of ruffles, cuffed jeans, and cardigans under jackets. Unlike the recent JC catalog though, the styling is real life wearable. Not completely over worked with ridiculous layer upon layer and incorrectly buttoned sweaters.

Cover featuring Rosette detail cardigan. I saw this in store, it is so pretty

Cotton long belted coat, Leather motorcycle jacket,
I don’t see the sweater dress online but I want it! I LOVE the look bottom right.

Chiffon cardi again under Piped blazer (want!)

Autumn rose skirt (looks familiar ;) , Ruffle blouse

What do you think of Ann Taylor Loft’s Fall looks? Do you have any ATL in your closet? I’d really love to hear what you think about the quality.

J.Crew review: Sultana jacket

I don’t know the name of this jacket and I don’t see it listed online. Perhaps it will be part of the (rumored) Oct 17th new online releases. *editted this is the Sultana jacket
When I saw it in store a couple weeks ago, I thought: oh kind of Chanel, I gotta try that. But when I put it on it was…something else.
I tried on the smallest size, a 0 I think, and it was very full in the body. There is a band around the hem on the jacket that cuts in and this I could barely even button it was so snug across the hips.
I can’t remember if the shoulders were actually padded but they certainly look so in the photo. Either way, not a good look.
The sleeves are cropped and like the waist, are banded and poof out.
The buttons were pretty bold and bright gold. I seem to remember there being epaulets on the shoulders too which is why I thought of it as a military jacket but I don’t see them in the photo..Maybe it was just the buttons that gave it a military look.
This jacket would probably look cute on some jc fans but I could not get it off fast enough.

What do you think? Have you tried this jacket on, is it as bad as I think lol?

MAC custom palettes

MAC now has a build your own make up palette online. 4 pan eye shadow, 6 pan blush, or 15 pan eye shadow palettes are available. You just drag and drop which every shades your little heart desires.
Of course you have always been able to build your own MAC palette by purchasing the individual pans and empty palettes at the Pro shop but there is something positively addicted about being able to play with the colors online.
I don’t need any new make up right now but I could seriously do this all day. It’s so fun to see how the different eye shadow shades look together.
Mmmmm pretty colors.. I feel my lately suppressed MAC addiction stirring lol.

It’s too bad they do not have Face palettes available where you could choose eye, lip and cheek colors.
