I don’t know the name of this jacket and I don’t see it listed online. Perhaps it will be part of the (rumored) Oct 17th new online releases. *editted this is the Sultana jacket
When I saw it in store a couple weeks ago, I thought: oh kind of Chanel, I gotta try that. But when I put it on it was…something else.
I tried on the smallest size, a 0 I think, and it was very full in the body. There is a band around the hem on the jacket that cuts in and this I could barely even button it was so snug across the hips.
I can’t remember if the shoulders were actually padded but they certainly look so in the photo. Either way, not a good look.
The sleeves are cropped and like the waist, are banded and poof out.
The buttons were pretty bold and bright gold. I seem to remember there being epaulets on the shoulders too which is why I thought of it as a military jacket but I don’t see them in the photo..Maybe it was just the buttons that gave it a military look.
This jacket would probably look cute on some jc fans but I could not get it off fast enough.
What do you think? Have you tried this jacket on, is it as bad as I think lol?

Conceptually, it has potential, but I see what you are talking about with the fit issues! I had when JC fails in the fit-department. I feel like their sizing is wacky too…uh!
I love this jacket! It looks great on you… Might I add having grown up in Seattle, namely Bellevue for 12 years of my life, its cool to see you feautre malls in Bellevue cause I haven't been there in too long! I miss it and it's such a beautiful place! Thanks for that post! have a great one!
It looks similarly to the downtown field jacket in the October catalog which I snatched a copy of at B&M today!
The fit is off,and I am not a fan of the gold buttons, they really stand out against the black. I am not looking forward to the black and white theme of the next rollout, I cannot wear these colors at all.
Oh this coat is so close. I see what you say about the shoulders and they are laying maybe a bit too flat but otherwise I think this looks clean and modern on you. The sleeves and shoulders need some help but the main body of it looks great on you.
Yeah, I see what you mean. I don't think this jacket does you justice. I blog today about J. Crew too
Great minds and all that …

I like the idea, but the execution fails. The shoulders are just so off. Not crazy about the buttons either.
I wish J.Crew would stop making boxy jackets. In contrast, the cut of the school boy blazer is so much more universally falttering.
I actually think it looks adorable on you! I'm going to have to check it out in stores, I love gold and black!
Military jackets in general fit a bit strangely, don't they. I know the one I grabbed from AE is also boxy, so I make sure to pair it with more fitted/streamlined pants. But being someone that loves fitted jackets, it bugs me!
On a different note, looking at and remembering the awesomeness of your profile pic (from fall 2008)- I was playing with my bronzed ochre wool pencil skirt this morning. Love.
I don't likethe style of the jacket at all (black w/gold buttons, possibly padded shoulders, and short with a banded waist adding possible 'pouf' around the middle). Pass
I like it on you and on me! It's a little hard to mix, though. It looks great with faded and distressed jeans and with some skirts that are narrow on the top. Also with goldish chinos. . .
Chloe Bee- Even though I complain about being out in the sticks lol, you're right it is beautiful up here. Thanks for visiting the blog!
Thanks for your thoughts on the jacket everyone! I thought it was a disaster on me but I guess I was a little hard on it and the jacket is just not my taste
Chloe-I have my ochre skirt for sale but I'm thinking about taking it down and keeping it.. I do so love the ochre & plum combo
It's Chanel-esque, but they messed. It. Up. I had the same fit issues as you and I have straight hips. The jacket is just bad, which is simply too bad because it's darling on the hanger.
I’ve been looking everywhere for this jacket!!! Has anyone seen it?
Telly it’s the Sultana jacket
