I was out running some last minute trip errands today and decided to stop at AE to pick up some more undies, you can never pack too many! Sorry if tmi lol but I just love the Aerie boybriefs. They are so comfortable.
Anyway, I remembered Appgal’s post on Gigi’s fab blog about a new Chanel-ish AE jacket. I spotted it right away and had to try it on. The salesman let me know that although they are only advertising hoodies and tees on sale, the jackets were also buy one get one half off, “for today only!”. I love a store that makes an effort, so I grabbed a second jacket off the rack to try.
First we have the Prep School blazer. I cannot find this one online but the Sku is 160815131, it retails for $59.50. The shell of the jacket is a dark grey cotton herringbone. It is lined in navy blue poly with blue and bright pink piping. The collar is also lined in a navy, white, and pink tie stripe. The blazer is seriously cute with the collar popped. The jacket is accented with antique silver colored anchor buttons and a gold emblem sewn onto the pocket. I think the Prep school blazer is nicely constructed and the perfect weight for Fall. The fabric is soft and not itchy at all.
This jacket fit true to size for me. I thought I might have to size up, I use to have to buy a medium in AE shirts but the extra small was the best fit for me.
Next is the jacket Appgal posted about, the Vintage blazer. This rang up as the Ladylike jacket, it retails for$69.50. I took the XS in this as well. The jacket is 100% cotton with a… nubby weave. I’m sure that is not the correct term but I can’t think of how else to describe it. The fabric is not fuzzy but is has texture. The vintage blazer is accented with grey braided trim edged in frayed black cotton. There is also a removable flower pin. It is made up of 4 round pieces of fabric stitched through the center. The petal ends are unfinished but the fabric is cotton, not chiffon. The jacket snaps closed with 4 large snaps. I’m not crazy about the snaps, they are too bright. I think I will change them out to black after the trip. I will also have to have the sleeves hemmed. They are too long, so I cuffed them in the pic.
So, I could not resist adding these to my suitcase. I know, I have packing sickness lmao. I’m like that lady who brings a trunk with her on vacation. I’ll leave behind my JCP blazer and I’m cutting outfit #1 and #3 below in favor of the AE jackets. Believe it or not, I still have plenty of room for souvenirs ![]()
With the jackets promo plus a 15% birthday discount, I picked up these and my undies for 100 bucks. How can I say no to that!?
What do you think of the American Eagle Outfitters jackets?

Love both of these jackets! Thanks for highlighting AE. Sometimes I just forget to go by there. Both jackets are lovely on you. Hope you have a fabulous and safe trip!
Love them both. AE has some really cute jackets this year!
You *can't* say no, of course.
I wouldn't have been able to either. Great deal and they both look wonderful on you. Don't forget if you *do* run out of room in your suitcases, you can always have it shipped home. I hope you have an AMAZING trip!

Lol Carole, I had not even thought of that. Interesting! Lmao poor dh.
Emily & Roxy-Glad you like them! I haven't shopped AE in a long time but since JC's jackets never fit me, I figured branch out!
Love the first jacket and the cute logo! Oh, and the pop up collar too!
I actually love AE jackets. I wanted to get the first jacket but they sold out in my area of my size (xs). I have two corduroy blazers from a couple of years ago from AE, and I love them. They fit so well and are so comfortable. The second jacket is nice too. I was just at the AE and I tried it on, I had the same problem with the sleeves, so I am gonna orders the xxsmall online and see if that fits better. But I loved it. It was super cute.
Good purchases!
I also saw the second jacket at AE this past weekend and had the same thought about the shiny snaps. How hard is it to change them out? If it's as easy as sewing on buttons, I could probably do it.
Wow that 2nd jacket is lovely! I don't think I would like the snaps either.
both jackets look great on you! btw, what pants are you wearing in both pictures? i love the fit and wash of your jeans and the black pants are cute too! (not exactly leggings and not skinny jeans..) would you mind sharing the brand/style name? thanks!
Kate- I think the snaps will be pretty easy to replace. I'll have to take a closer look to see if I can do it myself or take it to the cleaners
Ashley/ They are Martin and Osa jeans. The black is the slim fit and the blue are boot
Thanks for your thoughts ladies!
Ohhh I love the school-boy jackets. So fun to style! I bet a great fall scarf would be cute with that, too!

I love the second jacket! I tried on the schoolboy one, but it was way too big (I'm usually an XS-S in AE tops). I was disappointed, because it felt so soft and comfy! You look fabulous in them!
The prep school blazer is ADORABLE!
Thanks for sharing!
I love the second jacket!
I like these jackets, especially the second one. Thanks for the review.
Thanks for reviewing AE. I always pass up that store but now I'll have to visit it!
I love the schoolboy blazer. I didn't see that one when I was in AE the other day. I'll be reviewing the 2nd one & will be sure to link back to your post
I bought the second one a few weeks ago, and then when I got my October Lucky saw that it was a featured item. I felt so stylish, ha! Anyway, I too found the sleeves to be long, but I was pleasantly surprised by this offering from a place I had always dismissed as too young for my 34-year-old self.
thanks shannon! im glad m&o is having a promo too!
LOVE them both. the first one has that cute schoolgirl feel and the second was is lovely. I really like the snap buttons. I'd love a jacket like that. Great buys!
*is lovely (sorry typo)
I just found your blog, but I love it, and I especially love that we are almost exactly the same size(my bust/waist/hip measurements are the same as yours, but I'm one inch shorter)! Now I know if something looks good on you, it should fit me too! So excited. I'm bookmarking this.
Thanks
Wow thank you so much!! I used to buy virtually all my clothes at AE because I am built sort of like a teenager so their things fit me. Then for a while they didn't really make much that wasn't surf wear. Now with these jackets they look like they are back to the nice things like some of the pieces I bought several years ago. I am going to call about the school boy blazer and see if I can get an XXS in that and also the other jacket you got. Of course I also like the $250 leather jacket (I've been on the lookout for a brown leather jkt) but don't want one that is too cropped) – it looks to be nice leather in the photos but being 5'9" it may be very high on the waist. Did you see it? Oh and I also love Aerie undies, esp the tactel/slinky fabric ones. Also the few free standing stores where they have the pretty dressing rooms. Thanks again! Have a wonderful trip to Paris!! I have read your blog for ages but never posted. I loved the recent pic with your daughters stripy leg in it – made my day (and her comment about needing clothes:)
Wow I haven't been to AE in forever but I love these blazers!!
Sydneygirl- Thanks for your post! I didn't see the leather jacket, but I will look for it next time I'm at AE
Laura- Welcome to the blog!
Thanks for the replies ladies! I love the school boy blazer and have worn it a couple of times. I haven't worn the second jacket yet though, still wondering what to do about the too long sleeves
I ordered the leather jacket online a few weeks ago and when it arrived the zipper had left indentions ALL over the jacket…it looked horrible and I was super dissapointed. It was all scratched up and you could totally see the zipper marks, UGH! I took it back and they told me that it is not sold in stores…?
I will wait till its on sale and try ordering it again.
By the way, I also got the "chanel-y" jacket along with the leather one. Its been sitting in my closet for a few weeks bc I too don't like the buttons! Would coloring them black be an option? Sharpie, haha?
