I stopped by the newer Bellevue Anthropologie at The Bravern over the weekend. This is my second visit to this location and upon closer inspection I realized this is a smaller store, with very little newer releases, and no shoes at all. Ugh what a bummer. I thought it would be nice to be able to hit the Btown malls on rainy days instead of the streets of Seattle. But the J.Crew there has been equally disappointing as of late. Even my Dh complained that Bellevue has the smaller stores, with nothing new, so what’s the point? I guess I will be sticking with downtown Seattle from now on. Any local gals have thoughts on Bellevue vs Seattle?
Anyway, since they didn’t have much new, I decided to take the opportunity to try on a few dresses that I didn’t get a chance to cover right before my trip. So some of my upcoming reviews have been covered on other blogs already but I’ll throw in my 2cents just for the heck of it.
I have been completely in love with the Verite dress since it went up on the site. Unfortunately for me it has a difficult fit. Just like Roxy’s review on Effortless Anthropologie, I found the dress not exactly suited for a curvy figure. The fit in the chest was good but the waist and hips were baggy. You can see the folds of fabric in the pics below.
My second BIG issue with the Verite dress is the lining. I think Kim may have mentioned this on Anthroholic, the lining bunches up and does not stay in place. It really needs to be sewn through out the dress or at least pinned at the bottom because just getting the dress on with the lining not bunch up anywhere takes ages. I kept having to pull the dress up and the lining down. Then the dress up again and the lining down a little more.
Now besides these problems I love the dress. It is so chic, so Madmen. I drool over it ever time I catch a glimpse of it on Anthro’s site. If it goes on sale, I think I can justify buying it and having a seamstress fix the waist fit and lining. Although I don’t know how likely a sale is since it is back ordered in my size 0.
I think in this pic I am wearing the dress a little low. The higher up on the chest I pull the top the baggier the waist got, so I was trying to find a middle ground. Also I am missing the little oomph a strapless bra would give lol
What do you think? Could the Verite dress be for me with a little adjustment or should I forget it and move on?

I think this dress would be great on you with a few adjustments, but I totally agree with you on waiting got it to go on sale. It is a shame though, I see this as a very classy dress, great for cocktail parties and such.
The color is amazing.
it looks good on you. if you love it, should get it tailored!
I did see that dress at the store and peeked inside to check out the lack of lining that I heard about on the blogs. Looked to be a well made dress, just did not have the lining. It probably wouldn't bother me so much. It's very cute dress! I say wait until it goes on sale and get the alterations!
Ditto the others — buy it on sale and get it tailored. It's very close to perfection on you already though.
Thank you for the link love!
If you're in love with the idea but not the actual IRL dress, I say save your $ for something that really wows you. Tailoring can help for fit, but if you're hesitant over it to begin with, I'm not sure it's worth it.
I actually think it looks really lovely on you! But the lining issue seems really annoying – after all, you do expect to move around in that dress, and having to constantly fix the lining would be such a hassle! The cut is so gorgeous, though, and super flattering!
Pixelant, I have this dress and it is lined. I got mine off the website, not in store. I wonder if that's the difference.
I think the dress looks great on you, and I believe tacking the lining a bit at the bottom – perhaps at the seams – will help.
I don't know, I think the color and strapless part of it limits the dress in it's applications. It is very nice but even tailored, is it worth it for the times you might use it? If it is, then go for it on sale ; )
I also tried this dress on and the lining and boning caused some issues. Although the plus is that the strapless actually works on those of us with smaller chests and isn't massively large.
The Braven is a very odd place!
Next time you're there, check out the boutique gym, David Barton. All the staff in the gym wear shirts with the motto, "Look better naked."
Bellevue Square is a mixed bag, but the parking is so easy. And the Ann Taylor there has the most petite sizes. I agree about the J.Crew, I prefer the downtown Seattle store for selection and SA's.
ooo that dress is great. I just got all this stuff at anthro, the tights are to die for: http://glammed.blogspot.com/2009/10/anthro-junkie.html
Thanks for your thoughts ladies! If it was meant to be I'll find it on sale someday
SEMom- Omg the boutique gym sounds pretentious lmao
Elledee-Great buys! Love those tights!
Try it on again and see how you feel. Also try walking a bit in it & sitting in it. I recall Kim saying something about sitting or walking & how the dress wasn't good in that regard. It looks quite smashing so it could be well worth having it altered.
