Cheap Thrills: lace and ruffles

I went on my bi-weekly local mall crawl yesterday. As I have mentioned before, my local shopping scene is pathetic. There really is no contemporary women’s clothing options. There is only old lady style, boxy “misses” and juniors. It can be enjoyable though digging through the overly trendy polyester to find the fashion gems.

This week at forever 21 I snagged the Lace mesh top. I am wearing it backwards because the really great bit is on the back. I took a size small and the fit is pretty good. It is however cut really straight across the chest which makes it gape open a bit under the arms. I paired it with a wide ruffle belt I bought at Kohls, also worn backwards

While at Kohls I also found this cute little jacket. It was in the juniors dept, the brand is Candies. Remember Candies lol! I didn’t even know they were still around. The jacket has a fabric flower on the lapel which is removable. Sorry, it was too dark in here today for me to get a good pic of it. The waist closes with a hook and it has ribbons on each side that you can tie in a bow around the front or leave the jacket open and tie it around back. Then there is the puff shoulders…so awesome.

OMG Shannon, you’re a styling guru. Both outfits absolutely rock. I love the fact that you wore the shirt & belt backwards because they look better that way. Yay for creativity! Love the mix of lady & rocker. I can’t believe the jacket is from Kohls. Kohls, are you serious? It looks fantastic. Also, love the shoes, what are they?

Candies! lol. Those wooden heels were everywhere back in the day! I remember the ads with Jenny Mccarthy on the toilet.

It can be fun to go through the cheapie + juniors stuff every now and then. I have a couple things from Wet Seal that I sometimes work into my wardrobe.

I could see both these looks working for drinks out with girlfriends.

Love the Kohl’s jacket! I find the darndest things at Kohl’s, I swear. Also, genius for wearing the F21 top backwards. I was just looking at that top yesterday online! I’d love to see it worn the other way, too, if you get the chance.
