What do you think of J.Crew’s Spring 2010 looks? I’m loving the shoes more than anything else!

I showed the looks to my mom and she said, “I don’t get it.”
I think for once, I’ll have to agree with her. Hahaha.
I don’t get it. Where oh where did my pretty J Crew go?!
Wow. It’s like I am living 7th grade all over again. Well, at least my check book will be safe.
Thanks for the pics! Not loving those big shorts at all, or much else except maybe the shoes.
Thanks for posting this, love the look books. Like the jackets and the shoes, not liking the camo at all. Still, it’s fun to look at the Spring clothes.
Thanks for posting the lookbook. The preview is better than what has been posted awhile back, there is still alot of short shorts and skirts. Where are the capris and pants? The color palette is washed out again, however I think that is is the trend for Spring 2010.
Shannon, you’re the best. Great photos, great photos. ITA — the shoes catch my eye and the…well, uh, yeah, the shoes.
Very curious to see what retailers I’ll be reviewing next year along w.J Crew. I imagine getting into baggy rolled shorts. And boy have they recycled some of same things. Jeez. Aren’t they tired of looking at it or do they not realize they’re repeating…
honestly…i did not see not see one thing i loved…and didn’t really see a whole lot i even liked! sad
Echoing the thanks for posting Shannon, and the potential shoe love, especially the wedges and some of the flat sandals. For wearability purposes glad to see JC is trying some perhaps more “durable” and every day pairs. Including ones that are on the site currently with bunglalow skirt but have not appeared yet. Satin ballet flats and shoes with thin straps and 3.25″ heels mostly stay unpurchased, or in my closet, under my desk. There’s one dark flower print, non-pastel, non-mini skirt that caught my eye too. While I do enjoy style look books and previews generally not just JC, trying not to get my hopes up, or down, until the season, items in-store. Helps keep weather blues, closet and, as Peabody noted, bank balance in check, at least. Here in Canada can’t even be thinkin’ about resort wear and sunny spring yet
Thanks for posting Shannon!
I really like a few individual pieces — that last pink swiss dot shirt, the pink gingham shirt, the aqua sequin tank, among others — but most of the things don’t excite me, and certainly not the styling (a long camo jacket with a delicate fluffy white skirt? please!).
The only thing that I like is the bag in the 3d slide and maybe the jacket in the first one. The look in the 8th slide is a total mess IMO. Thanks for sharing!
I love love love those pink-y beige wingtip oxfords! Will save up right away!
i love their hair !!
I love those wingtips too! I don’t know if I could pull them off though. The nude gladiator heels are TDF! I love the orange wedges and all the sandals too. There are quite a few cute tops here, it is just REALLY hard to see them underneath the styling. Like Anjali, I’m loving the pink swiss and gingham shirts, the sparkly aqua and coral camis. There is also a hot pink strata style top that is cute. Although, I doubt I’ll be able to wear it.
The bleached baggy denim and sweatpants are positively scary! Jeans in #2 are horrifying. The pink graphic tee underneath everything else look promising though. The strapless dress #18 looks beautiful but unlined and sheer. I like the blazers and coats. Hopefully they are tailored well!
I LOVE your blog, and I thank you for posting this look book! I was so excited when I read the title, but when I actually looked at the “looks” I was disappointed. I miss their preppy clean look. I mean, I like the frills too! But maybe it’s just hard to appreciate the items with the way their styled? This is the first time my heart didn’t swell when looking at their clothes. (I’ve been into J.Crew for only a few years now so my perspective on the clothing range and the company isn’t that grand.)
On a more positive note, I love your blog because you take clothes from so many different places and make them look amazing. <3
Let us hope the pieces we actually see up for sale will translate to something WEARABLE that doesn’t have to be fenangled with like these pics. Where is the preppiness like Bethany above says? That’s what we love about them. A little quirky, grandmother-jewelry thrown in, ok. But this… is not my thing. I’m so dissapointed!
Bethany- thanks so much about the blog!
I know what you mean, I use to go crazy over a new catalog but lately I’ve been disappointed. Based on the q3 conference I posted about today, I don’t think we will be seeing a return of the classic jcrew preppiness. Unless of course lack of sales demand it
Camo and sequins… so not impressed by the new looks, JCrew! Just like peabody, my money won’t be going for JCrew in the spring.
i hope jcrew never goes back to the preppy look. it was awfully boring and was too new england/northeastern in inspiration. every brand needs to reevaluate what they do and eventually look forward. it’s a good thing they’ve done rethought their brand. and, the sales prove it.
also, why do people put so much into how the clothes are styled in a lookbook? i don’t much. anyway, it’ll probably look different in the catalog and online.
Well, I am banning myself from shopping for 12 months, and it looks like JC is making it easy for me…I like the shoes, but I can without them, and *nightmare* I thought I saw a slightly “acid-washed” denim?
I think there are some great pieces hidden under the layers of styling (at least I am hoping). I love the yellow cardigan and the jewelry. I think it will be a better collection then the look books are showing
fun to look…but YUCK. i’m disappointed.
There are a few pieces such as a few structured jackets and a cute little clutch that I would incorporate into my wardrobe, but the granny mismatched look is just too childish and immature looking for me. I certainly have become my own stylist when it comes to JCrew as opposed to following the stylist tips from JCrew.
