J.Crew’s Metallic tweed charmed mini bag is here and it is fabulous

Since the mini bag was back ordered, I have been patiently waiting it’s arrival for a few weeks. I am very pleased that the bag did not disappoint!

The first thing I noticed when unpacking it, is that the little bag is hefty. The chain gives it some weight! Since it is a cross body bag though, the chain does not weigh you down when worn.

I’ve been looking for a cross body bag for awhile. This will be perfect for when I am out shopping and do not want to keep pushing my purse up on my shoulder. The bag is small so my full size MBMJ turnlock wallet will not fit in it. But the necessities, a couple credit cards, carmex, Iphone, keys, and mints will fit just fine. An eye glass case or sunglasses won’t quite cut it. The bag latches closed securely and closes up tight, so I don’t have to worry about loose items making a get away.

The mini bag really can’t be worn any other way besides cross body. You can try wrapping the chain around your arm a couple times to shorten the length but that tends to start cutting off the circulation lol.

The  tweed wool has great texture and the metallic gold thread adds polish.  The fabric is slightly fuzzy with a couple of thread ends poking out here and there but it feels tight. I don’t expect the knit to unravel but I will be cautious with it. The bag is trimmed in black patent leather. The inside is fully lined with a beige cotton. There are two compartments with one tiny little patch pocket for cards.

Each side of the bag has gold colored brackets holding the pleats together and attaching the chain. This all feels pretty secure and it gives the bag structer. I was worried that the mini bag would be one of those flat nothings of a bag like the Lexi but it is not.

The gold brass is a nice shade. Not too orange or green. It’s on the softer side of yellow rather than uber bright and cheap like some plate. I am crossing my fingers that the plating holds up. I will be heart broken if it starts to peel or wear through.

The charms on the bag are quite pretty. It’s a collection of smoked glass, faux pearl, and gold plate beads. The beads are wire wrapped and feel securely attached. There no skill in the wire wrapping though lol, it’s pretty sloppy. But I say that as a jewelry maker, most people won’t notice. I will probably rewrap them at some point.

J.Crew calls the metallic mini bag.. “so Parisian and so chic” and I have to say, I CAN see myself using this bag when I am in Paris next year.
