I haven’t shopped Free People in a long time. I still get the catalog but their styling is normally a little too free for my 30+ year old self. Even so, I found myself on their web site last night and ended up bookmarking one thing after another. Styled with care, a lot of the Free People pieces can be very chic.
There is a Free People shop in Bellevue that I have never even been in. You can bet I’ll be taking a peek next time I am in the city.
The sets below highlight my favorite trends right now: Ditsy florals, lace, and edgy ballerina

Lace sleeve top ~ Purple ditsy floral dress ~ Atame bow heel
Must have a ditsy floral dress for spring. I’d stick with the maroon tights otherwise it would be lace over load. These are the Chie Mihara bow heels also available at Anthro. I didn’t know FP offered Chie.

August ridge waist wrap dress ~ Obi belt s/o (?) ~ Pavia peep toe
I NEED this outfit in my life. The belt has already disappeared from the site though

Scarf s/o (?) ~ Lace curtsy dress ~ Criss cross studded heel
These heels are studded down the back to add some oomph. I love little surprises in an outfit.

Tiny dots sheer tights ~ Layla’s lacey dress ~ Soft sparkle leg warmer
This outfit is a bit young. But with a long cardigan and belt, I think it could work. I like leg warmers and I’m not afraid to admit it, so there.

Pearl and chain nested necklace ~ Goldenrod lace top ~ Rose pencil skirt
Tuck in the top and this set is very lady like with a modern edge
Find all these pieces at Free People.com
BTW- Recognize the models?

That model with the brown hair does a ton of print ads. She is even in bridal magazines modeling the gowns!
I LOVE Free People — always such fun things. At a glance, one of the models (the one wearing the cross) looks like Mini & the dark haired model (IIRC) is one of the last of the “Brazilian Bombshells”. She is so lovely — I really thought she’d make it big (as in household name, like Gisele), but she never really did. Though like Stephanie says, she works all the time and has for years.
Have heard of Free People, but never bought from them as no B&Ms in Canada. Some very cute shoes. Shannon, LOL on the legwarmers, it’s “retro” so work it
If you do know, or happen to visit the Bellevue store, would you post re. their costume jewelry and IRL quality, please. Would be happy to find another alternative between F21 and JC “statement” not so hot tangled mess price points. That pearl-and-chain necklace you posted plus a few of their other baubles just may be calling my name.
I get use to seeing these girls in JC catalogs. Then I see them elsewhere and they look out of place. Like te style doesn’t suit them lol.
Getfresh- I will definitely report on the jewelry. I probably won’t get there until after the 1rst, since the city is madness right now (makes me glad I live in the sticks lol). But I plan on a full FP dressing room report
Thanks for the post on Free People, Shannon. Their stuff is very pretty, and it looks like they’ve left the Land of the Rag Clothing!
GetFresh! You can buy FreePeople in Ontario! Seriously, I live in Guelph and there’s a boutique, “Blush”, just down the street that sells quite a bit of their line!
I have that August Ridge Dress in the green/charcoal color and I love it. It’s like wearing pjs. It fits me well, but it reeeeeally hugs and accentuates curves, FYI. I just don’t eat big dinners before wearing. hehe.
