Anthropologie review time!
Mini game: watch as my hair gets more and more messy as I tear through my Anthro dressing room stack attempting to finish before dd bores of candle smelling.
This jacket doesn’t look like much online or really even in my pics but it was the favorite thing I tried on last week. It’s made of super comfy french terry. The fabric is white with navy stripes and a floral lined cuffs. It just seemed like the perfect Spring jacket that you could wear with everything. Coral, pink, yellow, everything! The more I type the more I want it…I tried on the XS, it was perfect.

The Boundless blazer was not nearly as comfortable as the Natty jacket. The twill is quite crisp and thin. Not in a cheap way but you just feel more stiff in it. I tried on the 0 which I think is a little too small. The sleeves were short and once I buttoned the jacket I had little room for things like sitting..or breathing. The jacket buttons directly above where my stomach starts to pooch out which made me feel I had to suck it up lol. It is cute on though and gives a tiny waist. If I can find one next time I’m in store, I’ll try the 2.

Claudine tee & Gainsborough skirt
The Claudine tee is a spring remake of the Wind rippled tee. Unfortunately I think, it’s a cheaper remake. The fabric is thinner and does not hold it shape as well. The tee I tried on had a wide almost off the shoulder cut and was also lower and more open than the original neckline. Leaning over definitely gave more of a view than I would like. I took the XS which fit well but the thin fabric has the potential to be unforgiving.
The Gainsborough skirt on the other hand is lovely. I tried the size 2 because one look at the 0 and I knew, no way lol. The skirt is very fitted and the fabric is thin but it didn’t seem to show every lump and bump like I expected. The cut gives a tiny waist and nice curves. I love the fabric, it is as vibrant and gorgeous as it looks online. The orange tee worked nicely with the colors in the skirt. The ruffles in the top though made me look seriously top heavy, so I wouldn’t wear this combo irl.

I would definitely wear the white socks with it though
I was eager to try on this pretty pink ruffle tank but it really did nothing for me once on. The ruffles just seems so pale, flimsy, and blah. I’m sure it’s the fact that the top matches my skin about 100% lol. The good thing about this tank is that it is much more fitted than the thousand and one ruffle tanks we’ve seen out of J.Crew. The ruffles still hide curves but keeping the lining fit closer makes me feel less drowned in fabric. Still, I prefer the Free flow tank.

I like this top, it brings out my inner hippy. Airy, gauzy, with just a little ruffle around the neckline. It is definitely sheer around the waist. It didn’t appear to be see through in the chest but I didn’t see any extra lining so I am going to assume that in the sun it would be. This is the XS.

This top is very intriguing in the Anthro catalog. The model looks so European chic in it. Online the waist looks to button up right up under her chest but on me it sat much lower. I tried the 0 which was full across the chest and loose in the waist. The fabric is very sheer.

Hi I just gained 30lbs. What more can I say…I tried on the size 0 and it was big and unflattering lol. All that white is not helping.

Who doesn’t love navy and yellow together?? I thought this dress would be a win but I didn’t love it on. The top looks awkward to me and there is a lot of poof in the back from the pleats. I tried on the size 0 and the dress fit pretty well but the belt I could just barely button. The dress a size larger would be a mess as it’s already a little long in the chest so I didn’t bother trying the 2.

No name belt
The last thing I tried on was this belt. I can’t find it online so here is a random pic for ya lol. I quite like it. It’s thick in the front and tappers in the back. I normally wear a wide belt over a cardigan though and I think this is a little too wide for that purpose.

So what do you think? Any wins?

I am such a selfish reader – all I can think is SADNESS, SOB, BOOHOO about the Optimist dress (so much for it’s name!) I ordered the 2, because I didn’t see the 0 online and while it isn’t here yet, I think I can safely say I will look ridiculous in it. You actually COULD gain 30 pounds and still look great, and still this dress isn’t doing any favors. Sigh. I’m glad I know now, instead of being totally deflated when the dress actually arrives…your review has been very helpful! I hopped over from Anthroholic’s blog when I saw you would be posting about it today.
I love you in the Gainsborough skirt – looks fantastic! I also really like the Grain Field top on you, the fit is lovely on you! Since it’s more of a basic top (or at least it appears?) I’d catch it on sale.
Hi Jan, thanks for visiting. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news on the optimist
Thanks for your thoughts on the other pieces. I agree on waiting for a markdown on the grain field *crosses fingers*
I just have to say that your hair looks great in all these photos! Lovin the new do!
I love the blazers on you! Especially the first one. The second one looks great too, but yeah- it’s always a problem if you can’t breathe, LOL.
And I agree with Rachael. Your hair! Love it.
The Natty blazer looks great on you! Buy it!
I am sooo disappointed by how short the Boundless Blazer is. It was the first blazer I ever wanted and now it is triple-crossed off the wishlist. Boo. The Gainsborough Skirt looks like it was made for you! Really shows off your fantastic shape.
Great seeing all the pics. I agree on the 1st blazer. I love it.
I love the first blazer too!! Very nice and looks comfy.
I love both of the blazers & the grain fields top! It looks comfy and pretty and simple for summer.
Your hair looks great too
I’m loving the Gainsborough skirt and the first blazer. I’m so happy you did a review on the Claudine tee. I was afraid it was going to be a cheaply made short sleeved version of the Wind Rippled tee. So glad I didn’t order it. BTW, your hair is so cute. I think it held up rather nicely through the whole “dressing room stack”.
Thanks for all of the pics. I live over 200 miles from an Anthro store and paying shipping just to try things on hurts. I rely on blogs like yours to help me decide what is really worth ordering. I love how the blazers look on you, even though the Boundless Blazer is on the short side. And finally, your hair looks amazing!!
I think I’m in love with the Natty Blazer. It doesn’t look like it’s made out of French terry, but I love the idea of that — comfort plus style. You look perfect in it. That’s too bad about the Claudine tee – I just received my Wind Rippled tee in dark grey, and it is fabulous. Wish I could have it in all of the colors it came in. Love the Gainsborough skirt, too. Anthro has been getting a lot more of my business lately…J. Crew, not so much.
Wasn’t the material on the Natty Blazer super soft? It felt like I was wearing a sweatshirt, but looking more sophisticated! Originally, I decided to pass on it, but after seeing how cute it looks on you, I may have to rethink it… Thanks for the reviews!
Good morning ladies! Thanks about the hair! I always feel like a wreck coming out of a dressing room but the short cut definitely holds up better than the frizz ball I had before. Can’t believe I waited this long to cut it!
Re the Natty blazer. Ahh love. I’m glad you all like it too! It is super soft like a sweatshirt but manages to be fairly sleek as well. I’m going back to anthro today and might have to bring it home..trying to save up for a pair of Chies but it’s hard to walk away from this jacket since I can see wearing it a 1000 times.
The Gainsborough is so gorgeous but I hardly wear pencils skirts. I think I’ll have to hope for a sale on that one.
The Claudine- What a downer huh. They seem to be selling well online but I still think they are.. well crap frankly lmao
JKW- Same here! I’ve practically given up on JC altogether. Every time I see something that looks slightly tempting I then think of what I could buy at Anthro with that $$$ and the Anthro item is always MUCH more interesting and better quality
Candice- Glad I could help! I’m a ways way from Anthro too but luckily dh doesn’t mind driving me there each weekend. Well actually, I drive half way but once we get downtown, I make him drive. All those one way streets scare me!
Roxy- I was disappointed by the boundless too. Mainly because of the fabric. It’s just not comfortable..feels up tight. I really wanted to like it because it is so cute with skinny jeans and a tunic in the cat.
Great reviews, thank you so much! About the Claudine tee – I know, right? I thought the same thing, that it was so thin and seemed cheap! $48 might be “cheap” for Anthro, but that much for a wafer thin tee? The fit was way off for me, too.
Sad about the Boundless Blazer, I love love love it and wanted it to be comfy! It still looks great on you, though. Do you think sizing up might help, or would it lose its shape? Also, I read some reviews that the arms are tight. Did you notice that at all? Thanks!
Hi Paige, I didn’t notice tightness in the arms but I only had a short sleeve tee on. I don’t think it would fit long sleeves. I am going to look for the 2 when I am in store tonight and see how that fits
I got the claudine tee in navy (gift from the hubby)- it works so perfect for my figure & taste. you made me wishlist the natty blazer
BTW- is there a chance I could convince you to make the Rosy Metal necklace in an aqua blue color for me in a cheaper material? I could pay $35… I have some gift $ and I really do love that necklace. If you can’t work it, perfectly understood. Let me know if yes- patchwork150@yahoo.com
Meli- Yay for dh, enjoy your tee! Re the necklace, I wish I could but I can’t think of how to reduce the materials cost and maintain the same look. My pricing for this collection is bare bones lol. Unfortunately no room for discounts or even free ship. I may in fact end up having to raise prices if I find I am spending my entire hourly wage on supply shipping
eeeek! Well let me try & save up for it. Is aqua a possible/doable color though?
Yeah I could do aqua. Actually that’s a good idea..might try it out
