J.Crew: Latest and greatest

Let’s take a peek at the new J.Crew arrivals!
You’ll have to pardon me if a few of these are actually not brand new. I’ve not been hitting the crewlade as hard as I once did. In fact, I still have to spend my $50 rewards card! Maybe you can help me decide if any of these are worth purchasing or if I should just order Dh a nice button up instead.

alpansia
Alpansia swiss dot blouse

I’m a total sucker for swiss dots. I could do without the neckline ruffle though.

boatneckpainter
Boatneck painter tee

LOVE a boatneck tee. The painters have been a bit sheer in the past though. I really wish this came in more saturated springy colors. Have you tried the painters this year? Are they too thin?

~~~
starlandtank
Sequin starland tank
Oh boy, now that is cute
~~~

basketprint
Basket print silk camisole

Could be a nice layering piece but too nightgowny for my taste

~~~
suckeredginghamSuckered gingham shirt
This of course is not new but I have been thinking about buying it for awhile.
Does anyone know if it is see through?
~~~

adriana
Adriana silk rows tank

Pretty but looks quite short and square

~~~
blakelyswrap
Blakely wrap blouse
Ruffle ruffle ruffle
~~~

stripebateau
Vintage bateau top

Been eyeing this one for a couple weeks too. Anyone have it?

~~~
jaspetee
Wool jaspe crewneck tee
Cute but very casual. Could be very cool with skinny jeans though…
~~~

forgetmenot
Chiffon forget-me-not cardigan

Love that touch of blue

~~~
larkspur
Merino larkspur cardigan
Pretty aqua, flowers seem a bit big though
~~~

cashvneck
Cashmere vneck cardigan

This is the cutest outfit I’ve seen out of J.crew in months. The cashmere cardi comes in so many great colors. I really wish they would offer the same variety in merino.

~~~
tieredchambray
Whisper chambray tiered skirt
So cute but I don’t know that I could get away with it.
~~~

wednesdayskirt2
Poplin Wednesday skirt

Love this burnt sienna.  Have nothing in my closet close to this. But again 18″…

~~~
contrastpencil
Contrast pencil skirt
This stood out to me in the Look book but I was not expecting that stripe down the back.
~~~

twillbomber
Twill bomber jacket

Quite cool but I think I’d really love it if it was in a rich darker brown.

What do you think of J.Crew’s recent additions? Anything worth adding to the closet?

    Great post, Shannon. Several of your new JC items are on my list of possible purchases. I have dropped that darned Suckered gingham shirt
    into my cart at least three times this week, but I just can’t pull the trigger b/c I’m worried it’s too sheer and it will have the button gap issue, like so many of JC’s button-down shirts. Arrrrghhh! I’m interested in the Bright Hydrangea and the Deep Chartreuse colors. I too adore bateau-neck tops, so I’ll probably get the Vintage bateau top. Love those stripes. You would look great in the Sequin starland tank! Sorry I can’t comment on any of the items, but if I get any of them, I’ll let you know what I think!

    Shannon:
    The man in brown just delivered the vintage bateau top today. Come spring I am a sucker for anything nautical and had a jacket in mind for this, so broke my “no JC tees/ camis without try-ons” rule. Boo, it is a good bit loose on the sides and long on me (bottom of my jeans’ zip), which I might live with. But this XS also gaps away from my chest at the front shoulder seams (could just be my frame, but not good.) Overall, brand new it just looks messy already pre-washing, despite the fact the fabric is decent. So much to my genuine disappointment back it must go. Spotted the brown bomber’s fab collar too, but no more “mud” colours for me. And I did just order the reduced price Gamine jacket in black with the 20% off and last of my Xmas gift card stash. Sold out in ) so hope the 2 is not huge…

    JKW- Funny we are eyeing the same things. I’d love to know if you go ahead with anything

    Getfresh- Hey you, nice to hear from ya :) What a bummer about the bateau. Thanks for your review. I won’t waste my time with it!

    I fell in love with the sequin starland tank when I saw it online but am pretty disappointed after trying it on. First, I had to size way down. Not a huge surprise but it’s still annoying. Second, the seams on either side of the body (where the plain fabric of the back meets the sequined chiffon of the front) are terrible. Instead of sewing the silk chiffon into the seam, they left the edge loose. You can get a vague idea of what I’m describing by zooming in on the side view of this top online. This creates a wispy look that I sort of like but I can only imagine the amount of fraying that will take place after wearing this item a couple of times. I might purchase this top after a major markdown, but I’m not going to spend $138 on something that is going to fray and look cheap after a couple of nights out.

  • I’ve been anxiously awaiting the online arrival of the Whisper Chambray Tiered Skirt since seeing it pictured with the long-sleeve crewneck. Even with the 20% off, it’s more than I’d like to pay for a skirt. However, it seems versatile enough that i would be worth the cost-per-wear price. The only reason I haven’t ordered it yet is because it’s dry-clean only. Why is 100% cotton chambray not machine washable? Seriously.

    I have the suckered gingham perfect shirt in yellow, and I adore it! It’s not really see through, but I usually wear a tank underneath just in case.

    B_ Thanks for the starland review! Running big means no go for me :( Just as well, I am totally with you on not spending good money on unfinished items

    T-shirts- I think retailers are labeling more and more items dry clean so they can blame you when it falls apart

    Abbey- Thanks for you thoughts on the gingham shirt! Did you have to size down? I tried the light blue on today and it was awful on me. So big and unflattering :(
