Happy Tuesday ladies! Sorry I’ve been a bit MIA and slow on the blog posts. I feel like I’ve had a 1000 appts the last few days! On the nose front lol, I found a great ENT and a cosmetic ENT. They were able to finally give me some answers about my breathing issues and pain. Turns out I am allergic to the planet lol but especially to dust mites. An almost off the chart allergy. Of course dust is everywhere, year round. So now I know why I always feel like garbage.
Then when you add on the mold, grass, and tree spring/summer allergies oh I am real sniffing, sneezing, pocket tissue granny joy! The second ENT Doc I saw yesterday was able to confirm I have a deviated septum and other issues. So I may actually be able to have my insurance cover most of the surgery. Cross your fingers!! I am so excited about that possibility and also just to know what is actually wrong with me. That I’m not crazy and it is beyond the, oh the pollen came out and I need a benadryl.
ANYWAY! Sorry to ramble about not so interesting stuff lol. In shopping news, I ordered the Gainsborough skirt this morning!! What a surprise to see it marked down so soon. I hope I love it as much as I remember! I also got the Climbing cowlneck tee in navy to go with it. I haven’t tired the cowlneck before but I sized up hoping for a relaxed fit since the skirt is very fitted. Has anyone tried this tee on? Was it sheer? I hope not!

I really wanted to get this to complete the outfit

But alas, the old paypal account was running a little low because I just ordered this over the weekend
Yes the day after my “I’m done with j.crew rant” I ordered from them again. I know, I suck. The crack is strong.
How was your weekend?? Any shopping?
Oh I almost forgot! UPS stopped by this afternoon with a box from Anthro! With dh’s name on it. *Rubs hands together in glee.* Could it be a ruffly trench perhaps??? If it’s a Gainsborough skirt I will feel really bad HA.

Climbing Cowlneck is not sheer but it the neckline does tend to droop down as the day goes on I’ve learned. Can’t wait to hear what’s inside the mysterious DH package, and glad to hear that insurance may cover part of your surgery!
Thanks Roxy! Ehhh droopy neckline could be bad. I really need some EASY to wear tops. Seems like everything is sheer or too low or stretches out
So happy you went to an ENT! They really are the best when it comes to the nose – for cosmetic or functional reasons.
Hi,
I was cruising the fashion blogs and noticed one called sweetarchivia.
I believe she has put together a sweet small video of the top you ordered. Scroll down a bit and check it out. At least I think it is the top you ordered?????
Coco- I’m glad too! It’s no time to be lazy, really important to see multiple Dr about this.
Josie- Thanks, it is the same top! The tee looks cute on her. Hopefully it’s not too big in the shoulders since I sized up… oh well I can always exchange
love your new outfit. get that cardi! it is so cute!
and also glad you scoped out ent, congrats to getting it covered by insurance. huge savings! good luck!
You’re so petite, I can’t ever imagine you sizing up. Also, that’s really funny that you ordered from JCrew the day after your fed up post. Ha! Whatever floats your boat Miss Lady!
Hey Shannon:
Anthro and a post-beret dose of crewlade, plus a surprise from the DH, good things definitely come in threes (I hope, fingers crossed.) Great to hear you’re getting to the bottom of your spring sickies and surgery plans. Did your doc or allergy specialist reco any tips? If not my DH got some really helpful ones from his specialist (severe sinus issues complicated by those live-everywhere mites.) It takes a bit of effort, but dealing with some of the big ones on the list, like mattress/ cover really helped. Whoops, not a very fashion forward comment, <3 the skirt tho' so perfect for spring.
Can someone help me here in Canada? Do you know if we have the sales? I can never seem to find a sale section per se on the website.
Thanks
Love your Spring Picks Shannon!
Great News if your surgery could be covered by insurance, rightly so: it should be!
I have not been ordering from jCrew and I couldn’t care less about it anymore, BUT! You never know when the Crewlade will strike!
Crewlade- I love that cardi, I’m going to look for it in store!
Emily- I know, I’m terrible lol
Getfresh- Doc did recommend the pillow and mattress covers. I got the pillow covers yesterday but I’ll have to look at target for the mattress. It’s getting hospital chic in my bedroom lol
Anon- At jcrew or Anthro?
Dani-I feel the same way about new JC. I only ordered the cash tee because I wear the heck out of the ones I bought last year. I don’t know if I am even going to bother saving the catalogs.
hi there, just left the post about jcrew– i’m sorry to hear about your allergy troubles..i’m actually a pediatrician and the reason i went into medicine was to help out anyone who needs it
(really, goodness knows it wasn’t for the money. sadly still paying off mucho loans. as i am sure you can understand, i wish i could just be rich and buy all the beautiful clothes/handbags, etc i could want. when i am on call at the hospital at night, it is even worse, because i can’t sleep, but i am too tired to do anything serious either, so i make things even worse by clicking on ebay or celebrity websites and looking at beautiful gorgeous things i can’t afford. ugh.
ANYWAY, what i was going to tell you is that they now sell generic claritin (a non drowsy second generation form of antihistamine, like benadryl, but benadryl makes you super drowsy). claritin’s generic name is loratidine. much cheaper. if you can’t find loratidine, just buy claritin, but that should help with your allergies. but yes, covers for your pillows and bed should help a lot. buy them on ebay if you can’t find them around you. also, if you can get rid of your carpets, that would be great, though i know you live in a colder area, so that might be harder to do.
sorry, you might not have expected all this unsolicited advice
!
thanks again for the blog!
Carla- Thanks for the tips! I didn’t even think to look on ebay for the covers
WAIT!!!!! Before you consider surgery and all those antihistamines…I’d like to share. I have suffered for years with allergies and sinus issues. My ENT doctor also told me I had a ‘deviated septum’ and wanted to schedule surgery very quickly. I opted not to. I continued to deal with the sleepless-parched-gasping-for-air nights (from breathing through my mouth), and popped claritin, benadryl pills etc daily like jelly beans.
Then last Christmas (fattening season) I was acutely aware that every time I ate bread, Pastry, or food containing ENRICHED FLOUR, GLUTEN my sinuses would clog up within about 30mins. I did a little research and what I found has changed my life: Its turns out the inflammation and allergic reaction was caused by foods; Enriched Flour and gluten to be specific.
US Wheat has been genetically modified and many of us lack the genetic adaptation to higher levels of gluten, in our diet. American strains of wheat have a much higher gluten content (which is needed to make light, fluffy Wonder Bread and giant bagels) than those traditionally found in Europe. This super-gluten was recently introduced into our agricultural food supply and now has “infected” nearly all wheat strains in America. It was to recommended abstain from wheat and gluten for 4 weeks to see if there is a change in allergic symptoms. Now I am a bread person (chewey, crusty, wholesome etc) so it was VERY HARD but the result has been phenomenal. I have had no sinus congestion since January. I have used absolutely no anihistmine’s this year!!!. I buy whaet free UDI’s bread (made with wholegrain rice and tapica) from wholefoods and have replaced wheat pasta with Rice pasta from Trader Joes(tastes the same). There are many gluten free foods that are yummy, even cookies and cereals.
You have nothing to loose, so experiment and try it. Also here is the article that changed my life, it may very well change yours. Here is the article: http://www.ultrawellness.com/blog/gluten
Best wishes
