There are a few new arrives on the J.Crew site this morning. It’s always a happy day when I get that email! But to be honest, it’s getting harder and harder for me to pick out what the new items are. I look at the site and it’s just a blur of grey, pale pinky beige, white, and the occasional coral.

There are a couple of items that stood out from the rest though. Here’s my picks..

This skirt falls into the same pale pink coral look as above but I gotta admit, it looks quite pretty.

This could look really cute over skinny ankle pants but on my curvy figure, it will probably be total fail.

My closet is suffering from JC cardigan withdrawals. It seems like ages since I added a new one to my collection. Not sure if either of these deserve addition but they look promising.

Will this shirt be as good as the original check shirt???

I need a light colored blazer for spring and this one is so pretty.
What do you think of J.Crew’s new items? Anything on your wish list?

Love that popover tunic and the gingham shirt. But as you’ve said in the past, jcrew can really be hit or miss. Hmmm.
Too funny. I’m the same way- can’t seem to pick up what is new or not. I usually have to zooooooom in and then say, oh, I get it, they added a piece of tulle and ribbon. I guess that makes it new in their eyes.
I ordered a pair of the ultra knit shorts to replace my old pair of sweatshorts that I used for bumming around the house/ cleaning/ sleeping.
The rose vines blazer is cute, but I don’t $168 dollars like it.
Oh I get the emails too, and I have a hard time knowing what I already saw. Still, I say if it catches my eye, I’ll take a closer look.
I still have a gray pencil skirt in my Shopping Bag. I love the Turkish skirt too, but pity it does not come in Petite!
I chugged some Crewlade today–paid FP (gack, it was hard) for the Turkish Delight skirt. I’d been dithering about the Sunshine Peony cardi for a long time and reluctantly took it out of my bag this morning when I ordered the skirt. Now I see that it’s sold out in my size. I like the waterfloral pastiche cardi a lot too, but I have the scarf in the same print so I probably don’t need the cardi.
Looking at neutrals and pastels can be a “meh” experience for me too, but being a reformed bright/bold color & print gal, I’ve found that my wardrobe has some major holes in it when it comes to the lighter neutral colors. I can’t remember how many times I wished I had a perfect light pale beige or white cotton cardi, only to remember – oh yeah, I don’t have those. Anyone ever been stuck in the hot noon summer sun wearing a navy tee and a black cardi? Uck, so not hot. I mean – wait – “too hot!” And sweaty. And yuck.
Great comment on J.Crew turning into a soft neutral store. I love coral clothing but enough is enough…I long for red not pink, kelly green, yellow, deep blues and purples.
I quite like the new arrivals, but not really enough to buy. I am banning myself from purchasing any more pencil skirts, I have enough! I did buy the Marquee Satchel in Antique Lilac and it is a really beautiful bag, arrived just now. I have to try it on tomorrow with some outfits to make a final decision on it.
That Rose Vines Blazer is really pretty. I have the Liberty print blazer (cloud?) from last spring, bought it on FS popback for like 70 bucks in the fall. It’s a great piece, very similar to the Rose Vines. Very wearable little blazer, great with jeans and little skirts in the summer.
Shannon, i quite agree with you on the color scheme, heavy on the — and i’m tired of — greys / pewters, beiges/ sands, and variations with pops of coral. I’d love to see a true red — not poppy. I do like the watercolor garden and waterfloral pastische cardigans, but i have the sunshine peony. And wow, being cotton, they are rather expensive. Only $10 less than the merino one.
I am not a fan of the giant gingham shirt, though i don’t care of this style in general. Also, i think it’s a matter of semantics to call it “giant gingham” as it looks like a checkered shirt to me.
The vine jacket is cute, but i had the earlier floral poppy version and found it rather boxy.
I have and am returning the Turkish delight pencil skirt, and as i posted at JCA: i am crazy about the print. The colors are beautiful and more saturated than they appear online. Unfortunately, the fabric simply did not suit my curvy shape. Since the material is not substantial but rather lightweight with no stretch, it hugged the curves and was too loose in the waist. And because the print is horizontal, I felt that it visually made my backside appear wider and rounder and not in a flattering way. I could have sized up, but the skirt would have been too big. It’s also on the expensive side for what it is.
To sum up, there are a few pieces that caught my eye this rollout: the sunshine peony skirt and cardigan, the forget-me-not cardigan, the asymmetrical ruffle dress, and a few scarves. I’d love to see the watercolor garden and waterfloral cardigans IRL.
I love all your picks from J Crew, especially the turkish skirt!! I go back and forth on whether I like this new direction that the store is heading for, and while I like and can pull-off the disheveled look, I’m getting tired of each piece having things hanging off of it..
OT but wanted to just let anyone living in the Seattle area (esp Shannon, of course) that a Lands End Canvas shop opened today in the Bellevue Sears store. I had a ton of fun finding stuff that actually fit and reasonably priced! And, I usually always wear petites. There is a 20% off Lands End offer now but they wouldn’t take it in the store for Canvas, so I went home and ordered online.
Thanks for your comments ladies! Great to hear what you are and are not ordering and your reviews!!
That merino tunic is seriously tempted me…anyone try it? I should resist..bound to be huge
SEMom- ACK! I was JUST at Btown but of course I didn’t stop in sears. Why would go in sears??? Right?
Shoot! Hopefully I can get back next week. Thanks for the heads up!
