Last night I went to Nordstrom in search of a pair of straight leg jeans. The first paired I tried on was a review request from Stephanie. She spotted the Paige Skylines on the paige site last week. They looked great and I was eager to try them!

Paige premium Skyline straight leg in Dusk

I took my usual jeans size 26 in the Skylines. This is the same size I take in Paige’s Hidden Hills. The fit is basically perfect. The jeans are snug in the bum and thighs. I had a little bit of creasing under the butt when I first put them on. But I’ve been wearing them all day today (yes, I bought them!) and the jeans are relaxing just slightly. The fit from the knee up feels very much like my hidden hills jeans. That pair also relaxed but has never gotten baggy or stretched out. I’m hoping the skylines wear the same. Also like my Hidden Hills, I have a tiny bit of extra room behind the waist. Since I need the leg taken up anyway, I will take these to the tailor and have the waist taken in. It’s less than an inch gap but I like a perfectly flat waist band.

The pocket placement on the Skyline is just right for me.

Citizen’s of Humanity Elson Mid-rise straight leg

For the COH Elson jeans I tried on the 27 , a size up, because I’ve had to size up with them in the past. I think it’s the petite version in COH’s Ava that I have in a larger size. But I should have taken my usual size in the Elson because they were definitely too big. Even baggy I could tell they were a great jean. I was torn for a moment between these and the Paige’s. I decided to go with the Paige because her material is a little more body hugging. The Citizen’s are made in a very soft denim that hangs beautifully but it’s not as sleek as Paige.

There’s a lot of creasing in the pics because this pair was too big. Loved the pocket placement on these as well.

7 For All Mankind straight leg in Rinse

This was the best fitting 7s I have ever tried. I sized up to a 27 in these because in the past I’ve had a very hard time squeezing my ample butt into a pair of SFAMK lol. These jeans look fantastic from the front. A bit hippy in the pic because of how I have the camera. They were curve hugging and sleek. However, like most 7s I have tried, I had some gaping in the back. I would definitely need these take in. Probably 2 inches. I’ve have always thought SFAMK is fantastic on slim hipped, rectagular figured gals. But they can be tricky on those of us with hips and a small waist.

The back pocket placement on these was a little low for my taste. That might have been resolved with having the waist taken in though. These look pretty dumpy on me from the back because of that waist gap. They need to be pulled up!

All and all, it was a surprisingly successful denim shopping day. Normally, I find jean sizing all over the place and end up leaving the dressing room feeling like I better lunge and jumping jack my 33 year old ass all the way back home.
