I have been secretly coveting the Brighton Beach romper since it came online. There I said it. I’m falling for all the trends this years. First clogs and now rompers. Speaking of clogs…I have something awesome coming in the mail
But it won’t be here until the day before my surgery, so not sure if I’ll have time to share.. And it could be awhile before my head is on straight enough to manage 5 ” heels post-op. God knows I don’t want to fall on my face! LOL
I was so excited to finally spot the Brighton romper at my local Anthro. They did not have a XS so I tried the Small. The fit was a bit big and the halter ties were too long. The shape looked super cute in the dressing room though. When we got home, dh ordered the XS for me online. The XS fit better but the straps were still too long. I tried untying the knot that is in one of the ties, only to find out that it was sewn together. When I tried on the romper again the next day, the single stitch holding together the two pieces of fabric snapped. So now I am left with oneĀ long tie and one very short. I was able to still tie the halter but just barely and it was not comfortable at all. The next problem I had with the romper was that the cups are too small. You cannot wear a bra with this because it is so low in the back. The cups have under wires but did not give really any support, just flattened my Cs. After taking off the romper, I realized that under wire was already coming out of the lining. I’m seriously disappointing in the quality, especially for $68! The last issue I had is the back view. The romper is really not flattering on the butt and there is a ton of extra fabric sticking out around the lower back. It also emphasizes lower belly pooch.

I tried on the size 0 in the Coming and Going skirt. I believe Roxy mentioned it ran small and I have to agree with her. I could get this one on, but if I want to sit, walk..breathe, I’d need a 2. I love the ruffles. They lay pretty flat and didn’t seem to add width, even to the back. I was a little disappointed in the color though. I expected a bright yellow and it was a bit more mustard.

This cardi has been out for awhile. I’ve been eyeballing it online because I love the shape but I already have a navy cardi and I wasn’t too sure about the green. I really don’t wear green. I finally grabbed it in store and loved it. I took the XS and it has a snug, cropped shape. I wouldn’t wear anything much more than a tank or thin tee with this one. Added to my sale wish list.

I tried on the two wheeler dress in a 2 because the 0 was gone. The fit was definitely too big and long. I would take my regular 0 in this and even then, it might be a little roomy. This reminds me very much of the Reed dress. Pretty much the same cut and fabric. The sleeves on the Two wheeler though are MUCH snugger. I struggled to get them off. The bicycle print is absolutely adorable but I think a little too precious for my taste.

So sad to hear about the romper, because it is ADORABLE on you! Are you returning it?
Return the romper. I once bought a $78 skirt at Anthropologie, washed it once and all the dye came out. I brought it back about 2 weeks later and they accepted it with absolutely no problems. Another time I bought a sweater that had been severely marked down because of a lipstick stain, and the saleslady told me that if I wasn’t able to get the stain out, to bring it back. They have a very lenient return policy and seem to want to make the customer happy.
I had my sinus surgery down about three weeks ago now. They had to break some bones, so I think it might be comparable to the one that you’re going to have done. It was my first time with anaesthesia and it was not scary at all. I would highly suggest getting your painkiller prescription filled before the surgery. I did that and was later really happy that I did. My pain hovered at about a 5 on a scale of 1-10 for the first 5 days, and then went down. When my doctor told me I’d be in bed for a week I thought that I’d get all kinds of reading done, but I literally could barely walk 5 feet to the bathroom, I was so weak and tired. I definitely recommend buying a ton of food, so you’ll have something easy to eat. I ate mostly pasta with butter, applesauce, scrambled eggs, and blueberry crisp. I found drinking ginger ale (with a straw!) made me feel a lot better than just plain water, since the surgery and painkillers did a number on my stomach. I was able to move around the house a little bit at about a week, and now I’m going to work and driving myself places, but I still sleep a minimum of 8 hours a night and take 2 hour naps every day. The surgery totally knocked me out. I’m healing fine, but still not perfect yet and I’m still experiencing enough pain to take codeine about once a day, and OTC painkillers for the rest of the time. I hope some of that information helps. The surgery was really so not scary, I couldn’t believe it and when I woke up I kept on asking the doctor if he was SURE that he had performed the surgery! Best of luck and good health to you.
Abigail- Yes, I’m going to take it back.
Becki- Thank you SO much for sharing! I hadn’t thought of applesauce and ginger ale, I’ll add that to my grocery list! I hope you get your energy back soon! I did hear the anesthesia can take a long time to get out of your system.
Oh, so disappointing about the romper! Thanks for doing this review. I’d been eyeballling that too ever since it came out – sounds silly, but I was fantasizing about wearing it while reading a book on a recliner in the sun, complete with a big floppy hat, shades, and red lipstick. Now that I know it’s lacking in quality, I’m deleting it from the wishlist – saved me some heartache.
You look lovely in all of these pieces, Shannon. The romper has a 1950′s vibe that I really love — you look amazing in it in the photo. Sorry it was a disappointment. Love the cardigan!
i walked into anthro. a couple of months ago and fell in love with a navy bicycle print hooded sweater but of course it was $148 that i didn’t have. i need help finding this sweater because it completely matches a lot of my wardrobe.
