Captain Jack from Torchwood
I know you’re probably like, Huh? Well something about All Saints always reminds me of the show Torchwood.
They share the black on black on grey and gritty urban English look
An All Saints trench coat or leather jacket especially makes me want to throw down with some aliens, Gwen style.
The only thing is, the dress color might totally wash me out. It comes in black too but with black suspenders, which I don’t love. It’s that vintage cognac leather on the straps that takes it over the top for me. The dress does come in white with the brown leather suspenders but ehh, white it so bright. Thoughts?
I love this dress, and I think the pin-stripes are fantastic. I don’t think it would wash you out. But if it does make you a little pale, just some peachy blush maybe? It’s a great dress.
That is one spectacular dress- I love the striped shirt style, and high-fashion draping. It’s like the dress version of your polaire vest!
I think the white striped would be the classiest version too, since it best refers to men’s shirts and suspenders. You could always style it with darker accessories like a scarf if it does wash you out (though I doubt it would- it looks like a nice taupe tone)
My thoughts:
The striped version is my favorite; It has a cool, vintage vibe and would be more versatile for styling. If you can make it work with your skin tone, go for it. However, I really like the white too — very stunning.
On another note, I loved Jack on Dr. Who. He reminds me of a (my opinion) more interesting, charming, and better looking Tom Cruise. I’ve kind of given up watching most T.V. I DVR 3 shows and watch them later, so I’ve gotten out of the BBC loop. Of course, being a Dr. Who fan, I know the background of Torchwood, but wasn’t aware there was a spin off with Jack. I’ll have to check that out. I grew up watching the original Dr. Who with my Dad and continued watching the “new” series, but l lost interest after Christopher Eccleston and then David Tennant left the show.
I like the All Saints site, but woah, those are some steep prices. I absolutely love the outfit on the A.S. trenchcoat model . . . I need to STAY AWAY!

Vaporous- We are huge Dr Who geeks here lol. Tennant is our favorite. Torchwood is a rare good spin off. The first three seasons were the best. They brought it back earlier this year on Starz but it wasn’t as good in my opinion. I rarely watch anything beside BBC or Foodtv.
Yeah, the All Saints prices are painful. That’s why I only have a couple items from them so far!
I went to my first AllSaints store in Chicago (though I discovered that of course there is one here in SF) and discovered that it only went to size 10 US. I was just sort of stunned. Like, whatever. I like their aesthetic and can appreciate the jewelry and the men’s clothing (which is what I bought, in size S) but I truly don’t get the “we only go up to size 10 US” concept. Like “oh sorry to darken your door step, I will leave now.”
I like the stripes version best. I don’t think it would wash you out because it has warm undertones. The white version would definitely wash you out! Do they have it at your local store? Go for it and give it a try!

Not like I’d have any place to wear the pants to, and I’m not really a snake print kind of girl, but for some reason they just look fun, maybe it’s the metallic finish! One can dream of outfits she’ll never wear. Lol.
