Today is more of an experiment than a completed outfit. I’m wearing my COH Super Flare jeans and Free People crafty cuff thermal. I needed another layer though because it’s cold and I am sick. Must have lots of layers when sickly.
I started out wearing the American Eagle Dolman sleeve sweater, which is comfy but a casual look that photos pretty poorly. I’ll stick to wearing this top with a thinner leg jean.
I decided to change the sweater out for something more structured. I really like the cropped jacket with the jeans but this is more of a mild weather Spring look.
I tried on some lighter color cardigans, not shown, but that was not working at all. The large flare on these jeans really needs something sleek and darker up top. So I grabbed my black cardigan and a scarf.
I look like I have cramps in this photo, *pose fail* lol
I don’t know that I love the green on green with the scarf. The scarf does have some blue in it but the green shade is a yellow undertone while the top is blue. I do like how the pattern scarf picks up on the lace sleeves, without overwhelming. Getting closer to a complete look.
I miss having these jeans hemmed to a 4″ heel length. They definitely look better with a long silhouette. But I hardly ever wear a 4″ heel, so I had them shorted to a 2.75″ heeled shoe.

I love the cozy layers in the first actual look too, like an off-duty ballerina; the different necklines are great, and I guess I would often be wearing a scarf in such cases too. Those peeks of coloured lace are a great detail, and match the scarf in a good way without matching too muchly.
But I also like the dressier look of the coat with the flares (is there any better combination than a black top with denim? I think not)- very rich! Found myself suddenly looking for dressy cropped black blazers on ebay but stopped myself before I got too far in!
I agree with D.G., all the looks are great in different ways, but my favorite is the last look with the black jacket. I think the scarf pairs well with the shirt. Is that the green version of the Iznik scarf? You wear it effortlessly.
She already got me with the lace trim FP thermal concert post. I snatched it up during a recent discount promo, or should I say snatched THEM up. Now I have to decide between the charcoal and black, or of course, I could keep both. Ha, ha. BAD influence, Shannon!
The super flares look great on you! I really like all of your looks here, Shannon. The green looks so good with the black, too. Is that your Anthro jacket? I understand what you mean by the green scarf with the green top, but I think it blends very nicely. You can never go wrong with FP thermals, I have some that are 3+ years old and they still look great.
I finally got my AE boots the other day. I really like them, although the cognac color is not as rich as it shows online, but it’s pretty close. They will definitely need insoles. If they mark the black ones down for a good sale price, I may just buy those, too!
I think I like both outfits, probably because I love that green thermal tee. Hope you’re feeling better lady.
Green dress- I guess the sweater does has a ballet look, I didn’t think of that. Would be more so if I paired it with the thermal in light pink…ohh must have that now
Vaporous- It is the green Iznik. I have it in pink too, love them!
Athena- Thanks for your thoughts on the green tones! Yep that is the anthro stork club jacket from last year. I’m glad you like your AE booties too. I think they were running 40% off again the other day but not sure if it is still going on
Thanks Rosa! This cold is kicking my butt. I’ve done nothing for two days except lounge on my couch and read Sherlock Holmes lol
Vaporous- Did you get the lace sleeve or the crochet? I just noticed that my lace top has a little tear in the sleeve webbing, booo guess I should have hand washed it. But my crochet sleeve top is still good.
I’m not sure what Free People return policy is like but if I can get there in the next month or so I’m going to ask if I can exchange the lace cuff top for a new one.
I meant the crochet cuff henley, not lace.
I just rebought a shirt that tore, the logic being that now I KNOW that it is delicate, I’ll be very careful. (I need a crazy eyes emoticon to insert here.)
but that part sounds fun…
I love that scarf. BTW, I gave you a blog award. See here for details. Merry Christmas Shann.
Love those jeans on you! The flare is perfect.
Where did you go Shannon!?
Hi, I’m still alive, thanks for asking lol. I just haven’t felt like talking about clothes or shopping. Probably because there is so little in stores right now that interests me. Also, after 3 (plus?) years writing Wardrobe review, I’ve pretty much posted about everything I could ever want to. More and more I am feeling like new posts here, or similar projects fashion related, are just a recycled and repackaged version of what I’ve already done. I’ll probably close the blog sometime this year. I’ve been sporadic with it for so long anyway lol.
Soooo, I am using my free time to read and write privately, or for my book blog. Feel free to stop by over there and say hello, comments don’t need to be on topic
