Anthropologie review: Square study skirt & Instant classic tee

I have decided I am all about the pencil skirt this Fall and Winter. Worn with tights and boots, or heels, they are my perfect dressy but no fuss outfit. With this in mind, I am eager to stock up ;D

I tried on Anthro’s Square study skirt in a size 2. It fit great, not too tight. Definitely enough room to move around comfortably. The past 6 months or so, I have been taking a size 4 in Anthro’s pencils skirts. That’s the size I took in the Cultural Heritage skirt and the Araca, so I am going to say that the Square study skirt runs larger than many of the skirts we’ve seen recently.

The Square study’s fabric was pretty but surprising! I was expecting it to be a more severe geometric but it is actually woven squares which gives the skirt a softer more natural look. I loved the paper bag waist, for the first time ever. And I think the length is perfect, right below the knee on me (I’m 5’4″).

My only gripe about the skirt is that the pattern does not match up on the sides, sigh.

I took a pic of the fabric tag and the skirt is actually 45% linen, 55% cotton, with a polyester lining. Anthro’s website lists the skirt as acrylic, wool, rayon, and other fibers. Not sure why in the world they did that because I was not too please when I saw that list.  I guess the belt could be acrylic and rayon?? It is one of those sort of cheapy fabric belts. But really Anthro, let your customers know when you are using natural fibers!

I know, the flip flops make the outfit. yeaaaaaa

Anthropologie review: Layered Column dress

For some crazy reason I tried on Bailey 44′s Layered Column dress the other day. On the hanger it didn’t look like it would be flattering but I do love stripes…and those criss cross fabric cuts are just the right amount of edge for me. I grabbed the size Small because the look of the XS scared me. Bailey 44 seems to be making everything tiny but I guess that modal fabric they use does have a lot of stretch.

Since I’ve been gone…spring shopping

I know I haven’t posted much lately but I am still here if you are wondering. I’ve been posting away on my book blog these last couple weeks but I just have not felt the desire to talk about clothes. I’ve never been that passionate about warm weather fashions. Plus, our weather here is the suck. It will never stop raining and that really puts a damper on even trying to get into the mood for spring! I have still been out shopping but Anthro is continually disappointing me. I am dying for some new tops. I get sick of the tops I have so quickly but I can barely find anything to buy. So frustrating to get excited about something new online, only to go into the store and find out it too has flaws. How hard is it to make a proper top!? I am seriously thinking about learning to sew and making my own.

Anyway, rant over lol! I did find a few things I like recently…

I realized suddenly that I was in desperate need of some new jeans. My beloved Paige bootlegs are getting a hole in them and have shrunk up a bit over time. So I finally bit the bullet and bought the Citizen’s super flare.

I had them hemmed at Nordstrom and they are perfect. Still very flared and just a tiny bit above the ground, so I am sporting that footless look lol.

Realizing that the COH’s are very distinctive and I wouldn’t wear them every day, I also bought the Joe’s Visionaire bootlegs, with the help of some returns. These jeans are uber comfy, great basics.

Anthropologie reviews: Shorts and pencil skirt outfits

I went to Anthro last night in search of shorts. I actually never, ever wear shorts because I hate my legs. Although my skin is not red as it looks in these pics lol, it is extremely pale and I have chubby scarred knees. So because of leg hate, I never spend any money on shorts and the few days it does get truly hot here in the northwest, I just suffer it out. But maybe this year will be different. I was thinking that if I do invest in a couple cute shorts and outfits to go with them, I may actually wear them. I do love the flowy shirt or oversized light sweater with lots of leg look, so I am going to go out of my comfort zone and see if I can get it to work for me.

Unknown gold shorts and white sweater

I took a size 0 in these Gold shorts not yet online. The waist fit well but I don’t like the creasing across the crotch. Seems like all shorts do this. Not sure if I need to size up and take in the waist or if that’s just how they look when you are hippy. I paired the shorts with this cropped white sweater that I don’t see online either. It is full of holes but doesn’t seem to show bra. I took an XS in the sweater. The knit is pretty thick and it feels well made. I don’t think it’s versatile enough to be added to my closet though. Shorts were $68 and sweater $88.
