In search of walking shoes…

My London/Paris vacation is finally on the horizon, which means it’s time for me to get serious about packing. The only gaping hole I have in a vaca wardrobe is a walking shoe. So far I plan on bring my Antelope cognac booties, which I wore to Paris and Germany last trip. Plus my Veronica slouch boots and probably Adidas. I have been keeping my eye out for a more comfortable walking shoe all year but I just cannot bring myself to spend good money on something that is fugly. It seems like a waste to me because I know I’ll only wear them when I absolutely have to and the rest of the time they will just gather dust. The only comfort shoes I’ve seen that are some what decent looking are the ballet flat or maryjane style, neither of which look wearable with socks and I need socks. Also a lot of the so called comfort shoes look to be made of cheap quality materials. In my experience a well made quality shoe is always more comfortable. So, I decided to try an oxford shoe instead. Since I know Fryes are well made and have some padding, I ordered the Carson in Fawn and the Erin in grey. Crossing my fingers that I find one of them comfortable. If not I guess I’ll have to resort to ugly footwear. If you have any suggestions for a comfortable shoe I’d love to hear it.
