Fit: Fitted in the hips, bottom, and thighs. Flaring out from the knee down. Hem it to the ground. A higher rise will work better with cropped sweaters and blazers.

Wear with: Fitted tops. Button ups tucked in or well fitted: traditional white, plaid, liberty floral. Vintage t-shirt. Full blouse tucked in: semi sheer, floral. Flowy tank that’s cut shorter in the front. Fitted cropped sweater. Fitted blazer.

Accessories- Cognac belt. Floppy hat. 70s style sunglasses. Clutch, small cross body bag, straw tote.

Shoes- Thin heels with dressier tops. Platform sandals, wedges, chunky maryjanes, or ankle boots.

Beware- Too much volume or weight on top. Bottom flattening back pockets. Hemming too short. Flat shoes, unless you’re tall. Fading, whiskering, and light washes = more casual.
Dark rinse = universally flattering and versatile.

70s love continues with Page flares, kimono sweater, and platform sandals

These Dearie me sandals are pretty simple but look like something I would wear 1000 times.
I’ve seen the Irresistible Maxi dress in store a couple of times but I’ve been too chicken to try it on, it’s so long and I’m so short lol.

I love this navy skirt with the brown knee boots.

Here’s an outfit inspired by the orange plaid skirt set shown above. I used Anthros Easy keeper skirt with a blouson sleeve shirt and lace up ballet flats. I think it’s safe to leave out the matching plaid vest lol and went for a shawl collar sweater vest instead. One shirt is a cheapy from the Gap the other is a more interesting top from ASOS.

Etsy also has some amazing vintage 70s skirts. I think I am going to indulge in one soon! Btw there is some major resemblances between Anthropologie’s designs and these patterns. Hmmm maybe spotted were Anthro’s design team gets a little of their inspiration..

The first Polyvore set winterizes the yellow Vappu by layering a thermal tee underneath and a heavy weight cardi on top. Use rich Fall colors like cranberry, olive, or brown in the tee and then top with an ivory or natural colored cardigan. Or switch it and use a basic ivory thermal with a brightly colored or patterned cardigan. Cinch it with a wide belt, add tights and boots.

For the Vappu dress in navy I’ve focused on layering over the top. Go with a cropped or snug fitting sweater so you don’t look buried in fabric.

In both Vappu sets I’ve layered a slip underneath the dress for added warmth, and length if necessary. I’ve been searching for some heavier weight, warm slips without success. So I thought, why not put another summer weight item to good use by layering a skirt under another skirt or dress. Here I’ve tried it out with my Field Scout skirt worn under the Circle the Globe skirt

I’d like to belt it but unfortunately I have these lovely dark brown boots and NO dark brown belt.
